POSITION SUMMARY:
The Vice President, Global Invoicing & Billing Operations provides executive leadership for a globally distributed invoicing organization supporting over $1B in annual billing transactions. The role is accountable for accurate, timely, and compliant billing across multiple countries, currencies, and regulatory environments, while enabling scalable growth, strong controls, and an exceptional client experience. The selected candidate will have demonstrated success in cost analysis, experience managing multiple, complex projects, and a gift for building trust and strong relationships throughout the organization. This is a key position within the Altair organization requiring sound judgement, along with strong people leadership and management skills.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Global Invoicing Leadership
  • Lead end-to-end global invoicing operations across onshore, offshore, and in-country billing teams
  • Ensure consistent execution of billing policies, SLAs, and quality standards across regions
  • Oversee high-volume, complex billing for cross-border and locally delivered services

Cross-Border & Local Billing Compliance
  • Ensure invoices meet local statutory requirements including format, currency, language, and registration rules
  • Coordinate with regional finance, tax, and legal stakeholders to support compliant local billing models
  • Oversee intercompany billing and cross-border service recharge structures

Global E-Invoicing Strategy
  • Own enterprise strategy for compliance with global e-invoicing mandates, including clearance and real-time reporting regimes
  • Partner with technology teams to implement and maintain compliant e-invoicing platforms
  • Monitor regulatory changes and proactively adapt invoicing processes

VAT, Indirect Tax & Risk Mitigation
  • Ensure accurate application of VAT, GST, and other indirect taxes across jurisdictions
  • Partner with Altair and client tax professionals to design billing structures that mitigate cross-border tax risk
  • Support audits and tax authority inquiries related to invoicing and indirect taxes

Controls, Audit & Governance
  • Embed SOC and internal controls into invoicing processes
  • Ensure audit readiness and compliance with internal and external requirements
  • Own resolution of complex billing, compliance, and revenue risk issues

Transformation & Technology Enablement
  • Drive process standardization, automation, and digital transformation
  • Sponsor billing system enhancements and global scalability initiatives
  • Ensure invoicing platforms support regulatory compliance and future growth

Leadership & Talent Development
  • Build and lead high-performing global teams
  • Develop future leaders through coaching, performance management, and succession planning
  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement

Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of senior leadership experience in global invoicing, finance operations, or shared services
  • Deep expertise in global e-invoicing, VAT/indirect tax, and cross-border billing
  • Experience managing large, distributed teams (20+ FTE)
  • Strong executive communication and stakeholder influence skills
  • Bachelor's degree required, with significant executive-level experience leading global cross-border billing operations in complex, service-based environments. Proven success in scaling billing functions, driving transformation, and partnering cross-functionally is essential; candidates with primarily transactional accounting or A/P backgrounds will not be considered.
  • Familiarity with global relocation is a plus, but not required.
