Backend Developer - AI Data Services
About the Role
What if your C# expertise could directly shape the infrastructure powering next-generation AI? We're looking for a seasoned C# engineer to build and optimize the data pipelines, annotation tooling, and evaluation systems that leading AI labs depend on to train and improve their models.
This is a fully remote contract role working on real production systems - not toy projects. You'll collaborate with data, research, and engineering teams at the frontier of AI development, solving hard infrastructure problems that have a direct impact on how the world's most advanced models are built.

- Design, build, and optimize high-performance C# systems supporting AI data pipelines and model evaluation workflows
- Develop full-stack tooling and backend services for large-scale data annotation, validation, and quality control
- Improve reliability, performance, and correctness across existing C# codebases
- Collaborate closely with data, research, and engineering teams to accelerate model training and evaluation workflows
- Identify bottlenecks and edge cases in data and system behavior - then implement scalable, production-ready fixes
- Participate in synchronous design reviews to iterate on architecture and implementation decisions
- Native or fluent English speaker with clear written and verbal communication skills
- Full-stack developer with a strong systems programming foundation and 5+ years of professional C# experience
- Skilled in data modeling and database access - including ORM frameworks and micro-ORMs for high-performance SQL interactions
- Experienced building secure, well-documented APIs and endpoints for data access and manipulation
- Able to commit reliably to 20-40 hours per week on an ongoing basis
- Self-directed and comfortable working asynchronously across a remote-first environment
- Prior experience with data annotation platforms, data quality systems, or model evaluation pipelines
- Familiarity with AI/ML workflows, model training infrastructure, or benchmarking systems
- Experience with distributed systems, developer tooling, or high-throughput data processing
- Work directly with leading AI research labs on production systems that matter
- Fully remote and flexible - structure your work around your schedule
