Job description

The primary purpose of the AMHS Equipment Technician is to support Manufacturing Operations by performing the following duties:

  • Personally, impact and shape the startup and ramp to volume production of Wolfspeed's 200mm Silicon Carbide Wafer FAB, based on your ideas, experience and strength in developing and implementing innovative factory automation solutions
  • Provide unique opportunity to learn, interact and integrate with all supporting groups like equipment and process engineering, manufacturing operations, industrial engineering and facilities
  • Over time, contribute to building a strong collaborative team environment by participating in interviewing team members as needed.

What can you do for Wolfspeed?
  • Act as a subject matter expert for all factory automation tasks, connecting production orders to manufacturing equipment, Automated Material Handling System (AMHS), Material Control System (MCS) and the Manufacturing Execution System (MES)
  • Perform on-site maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of the AMHS systems
  • Assist in building a strong team environment by participating and collaborating 24x7 technician team improvement objectives
  • Participate in developing maintenance plans, Preventative Maintenance (PM) procedures, recovery procedures, quals, training material and other documentation for assigned equipment
  • Participate engineering led activities of contract engineers and trade contractors during system installation and/or modifications, ensure all
  • Develop and maintain a good working relationship across all levels in the organization
  • Mentor teammates by motivating, providing guidance and directions to help them achieve their goals
  • Perform additional assignments that may be required by management from time to time
  • This position will be based in Marcy, NY

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide equipment support to improve tool performance
  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions (to board level in some cases), determine corrective actions, and implement these actions
  • Performs electrical or mechanical troubleshooting to determine problems in non-functioning electro-mechanical equipment used in the manufacturing process
  • Dismantles, adjusts, repairs and assembles equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, operating or repair manuals, rough sketches or drawings
  • Uses test and diagnostic equipment to perform checkouts
  • Rebuilds manufacturing equipment as required
  • Be able to work with 12 hours shifts, day or night
  • Able to wear all required clean room protective clothing and equipment without restriction
  • Provide flexibility for 24x7 technical support for critical ongoing projects, installations, and repairs

REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • Associates degree in an engineering or technology discipline or equivalent military experience
  • Strong hands-on based mechanical aptitude; using common hand and power tools and attention to detail
  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems
  • Ability to read and understand electrical wiring, block, and schematic diagrams
  • Able to troubleshoot basic input and output functions
  • Experience with MS Office Excel

PREFERRED SKILLS:
  • Specific experience in equipment and process automation within wafer FAB using commercial MES, AMHS, MCS and dispatching/scheduling solutions
  • Minimum of three years of experience within a semiconductor manufacturing operation
  • Working knowledge of advanced electrical and electronic systems
  • Experience with robotic operation and maintenance
  • Relevant direct hand's on experience or education in a related high technology field
  • Semiconductor background

The posted salary range is what Wolfspeed reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual pay for a hired applicant will be determined based on the individual's job-relevant qualifications, experience, and other determinative factors. In the event it is determined that a different job level upon hire is warranted then that range will be communicated to the hired applicant as soon as reasonably practicable.
Compensation Range:
$22.30 - $30.70
