Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers
  • Manage system performance, uptime, and reliability across production and staging environments.
  • Implement and maintain user accounts, permissions, and system policies.
  • Apply system updates, patches, and security configurations regularly.
  • Deploy, configure, and manage cloud resources (VMs, storage, networking, databases, and load balancers).
  • Manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
  • Design and implement backup, disaster recovery, and failover strategies.
  • Monitor cloud performance and optimize cost and efficiency.
  • Configure and maintain firewalls, VPNs, routing, and network security groups.
  • Implement identity and access management (IAM) policies and role-based access controls.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection and security best practices.
  • Automate operational processes and deployments using shell scripts, Python, or PowerShell.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines for software delivery.
  • Work closely with DevOps teams to support containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Utilize monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, etc.) to ensure system health.
  • Troubleshoot performance issues, outages, and configuration problems.
  • Provide on-call support as part of a rotating schedule.
Qualifications
  • Strong proficiency in Linux system administration (CentOS, Ubuntu, Red Hat).
  • Hands-on experience with Azure/AWS cloud services (EC2, S3, VPC, Azure VM, Azure Storage, etc.).
  • Familiar with IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).
  • Experience with scripting languages (Bash, Python, PowerShell).
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals, VPNs, DNS, load balancing, and firewalls.
  • Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools (CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Grafana, ELK stack).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to documentation, process improvement, and operational excellence

Preferred Certifications

  • AWS Certified SysOps Administrator or Solutions Architect.
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate.
  • AWS Certified SysOps Administrator or DevOps Engineer.
  • Linux Certified: Azure Administrator or DevOps Engineer Expert.
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA).
  • Experience in chaos engineering, capacity modeling, or SRE tooling.

Education:

  • Master's degree in computer science, electronics engineering or related technical discipline and 10+ years' work experience.
  • Ten (10) years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education (20 years total).

Clearance:

  • The ability to pass a Tier 4/HIGH Background Investigation.
