What you will do

At Volvo Group, you will take end to end ownership of U.S. customs and trade compliance, ensuring alignment with local and global regulations while supporting the business in a rapidly evolving environment. You will provide leadership across customs and trade activities, acting as a trusted advisor and clear communicator to internal stakeholders, authorities, and customs brokers. The role includes leading audits and certifications, proactively managing risk, and driving continuous improvement. A strong focus will be placed on digitalization and data driven ways of working, leveraging systems and automation to strengthen compliance, improve efficiency, and optimize duty across the supply chain.

You will be part of the C&T NA team and serve all brands in the Volvo Group regarding Customs and Trade. The team works closely across functions and shares best practices globally. The team is united by a strong business and compliance mindset, a culture of continuous improvement, and a clear ambition to use trade as a competitive advantage. 

Who are you?

Essential requirements:
Degree, certification, or license in Customs, Logistics, International Business, or a related field.
7+ years of progressive experience in Customs and/or Trade Compliance within a complex, international environment.
Strong expertise in import/export regulations, including HS classification, customs valuation, origin rules, and customs broker management.
Demonstrated experience interacting with Customs Authorities, including leading or supporting customs audits, inquiries, and certifications. 

Knowledge of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), export controls, or trade sanctions, including practical application in a U.S. or global context. 
Proven ability to lead in a complex environment and influence stakeholders across functions and regions.
Understanding of data-driven decision-making and the use of digital tools and automation to transform customs and trade compliance, manage risk, and improve efficiency.

Nice to have:
Experience within the automotive or manufacturing industry.
Hands-on experience with digital customs solutions, data analytics, process automation, or compliance reporting tools.
Previous involvement in duty relief programs, such as duty drawback, FTZ, or similar mechanisms.
