Job description

Position Summary

We are seeking an Automation & Controls Engineer to support the design, programming, testing, and commissioning of industrial automation systems. The ideal candidate will have experience programming PLCs and HMIs, participating in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and supporting automated equipment through installation and startup.

This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of automation projects involving machine controls, process automation, and industrial systems integration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs for industrial automation systems.
  • Program and configure HMI applications for machine and process control.
  • Participate in the design, implementation, and commissioning of automated systems.
  • Conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) to validate system performance and functionality.
  • Support equipment startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities at customer and production sites.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and project engineering teams throughout project execution.
  • Diagnose and resolve automation, controls, and communication issues.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including control narratives, test procedures, and operating manuals.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts to enhance system reliability and performance.
  • Assist with customer training and post-installation support as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or related technical field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in industrial automation or controls engineering.
  • Experience programming and troubleshooting PLC systems using:
    • Allen-Bradley
    • Siemens PLCs
  • Experience developing and configuring HMI applications.
  • Hands-on experience conducting FAT and SAT activities.
  • Strong understanding of industrial control systems, sensors, actuators, and communication networks.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and control drawings.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to travel for system commissioning and customer support as required.
