Opportunity Overview

Teradyne is seeking an accomplished Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead mechanical engineering for our Silicon Photonics (SiPh) organization in North Reading, Massachusetts. In this role, you will own execution of the mechanical engineering platform strategy, guide teams from early concept through released products, and develop a high‑performing engineering organization operating in a fast‑paced, global environment.

Lead platform mechanical architecture for complex optical and semiconductor test systems, shaping next‑generation SiPh test platforms.

Own end‑to‑end execution across concept, architecture, development, release, and high‑volume manufacturing.

Drive program delivery and governance — manage schedules, budgets, phase‑gate reviews, and technical risk mitigation.

Resolve critical technical escalations with hands‑on leadership during design challenges.

Partner cross‑functionally and externally with systems, optics, software, operations, suppliers, and customers worldwide.

Build organizational capability by recruiting, mentoring, and scaling a multidisciplinary mechanical engineering team.

Experienced leader with a minimum of 5 years managing engineering teams or in a technical leadership role.

Proven track record taking complex, multidisciplinary products from concept through release and into volume manufacturing.

Strong mechanical systems background in complex products, ideally with semiconductor, optical instrumentation, or test equipment experience.

Skilled communicator and collaborator — able to influence across functions and time zones.

Comfortable in matrixed environments with program or project management experience and supplier engagement.

Advanced degree and standards familiarity (Master’s, ISO/CE/SEMI/NFPA) are a plus.
