Role: Specialized IT Consultant - Intermediate
Location: Toronto, ON(Hybrid)
Duration: 12 Months Contract With 12 Month possible extension.
Technical Experience - 30%
Experience:
  • The ideal candidate should possess 5+ years of experience as a I&IT Consultant, with a focus on the following project environments:
  • Required Skills (3-4 years): Power BI, MS SQL Server, SSIS, Informatica ETL, Cognos Development, Data Migration & Transformation
  • Preferred Skills (2-3 years): Oracle, Visual Studio, .NET Framework, Java, Cloud Services, Data Warehousing, Advanced Data Analytics, Version Control
  • Technical Skills
  • Demonstrated experience in guiding the architecture leveraging Azure cloud services, including effective standard use of Microsoft Stack tools and services critical for the integrity, quality and pace of delivery.
  • Demonstrated deep Microsoft stack experience (10 Years) with at least past 4 years of Microsoft Azure Data Factory experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Azure services, including Azure Data Factory, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, Power BI, and other relevant tools.
  • Strong knowledge of data integration techniques, data warehousing, and ETL processes.
  • Familiarity with database management and SQL Server environments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team.

Development - 25%
  • Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines using Azure Data Factory Services for data ingestion, transformation, and integration.
  • Develop ETL processes using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) to move and transform data from various sources into Azure data repositories.
  • Azure Data Factory, knowing how to create and manage pipelines, datasets, triggers, and other ADF components effectively.
  • Design and implement interactive and visually appealing reports and dashboards using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and Power BI
  • Well-versed in ETL tools and technologies, especially those within Azure Data Factory, such as Data Flow, Mapping Data Flows, and other data transformation components.
Design/Architecture - 20%
  • Ensure data quality and data governance practices are implemented throughout the data integration process.
  • Demonstrated experience with data ingestion from multiple sources, staging and data cleansing.
  • Guide the architecture leveraging Azure cloud services, ensuring effective and standard use of the Microsoft Stack tools and services critical for the integrity, quality, and pace of delivery.
  • Understanding of Azure's security and compliance features is crucial to ensure data privacy and meet regulatory requirement.
  • Design, plan, and implement data integration and analytics solutions on the Microsoft Azure platform, leveraging Azure Data Factory, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, Power BI, and other relevant services.
  • Create architecture diagrams and technical documentation for Azure-based solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Design and implement data models and cubes using SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) for efficient data analysis and reporting.
  • Design and develop interactive and informative dashboards and reports using Power BI to facilitate data-driven decision-making.
Data Modelling - 20%
  • Design experience with star and snowflake schemas, dimensional modeling and data model architecture and design aligned with data standards and analytics needs of various stakeholders, includes creation DW, Views, Cubes, and other data services products, using SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS)
  • Utilize tools like Erwin Data Modeler and Power Designer to create and maintain data models for efficient data storage and retrieval.
  • Microsoft Azure Data Factory Services, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, Power BI, DataStage, Quality Stage, Visual Studio, Team Foundation Services, SQL Server Management Studio, Erwin Data Modeler, Power Designer.
Public Sector Experience - 5%
  • Previous public sector experience in an organization of equivalent size or complexity to Ontario Public Service
  • Demonstrates experience designing and developing applications that comply with GOITS standards and general processes would be an asset
MUST HAVES:
  • Strong experience in developing reports and dashboards in Power BI.
  • Solid experience in designing, developing, and deploying SSIS packages for ETL processes.
  • Solid knowledge of MS SQL Server, including T-SQL, stored procedures, and query optimization.
  • Familiar with data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) from various sources to target systems.
  • Strong product experience such as Power BI, Cognos, Oracle, MS-SQL, Visual Studio, SSIS, Attunity, ODAC, .NET framework, GIT and SQL-based reporting tools.
  • The ideal candidate should possess 5+ years of experience as a I&IT Consultant, with a focus on the following project environments:
