Specialist - Commercial Ops

Summary:
The group provides exposure to the various functions within the Commercial Delivered Channel of Sales, offering an opportunity to learn Sunoco's business model and prepare for a successful career in the broader organization. The functions include(s) Supply Procurement & Analytics, Business Systems, Dispatch Sourcing, and Contracts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Contracts
  • Prospect government/privates leads on local, state, and national levels
  • Review contractual language to determine eligibility, pricing structure, and commitments
  • Formulate bid proposal and operational plan through collaboration across the organization
  • Communicate to support groups their responsibilities and be the primary point of contact of the entity
  • Confer with customers or supervising personnel to address questions, issues, or requests for pickup and delivery
  • Analyze contract performance and maintain hedge-trading book
  • Customer onboarding through internal systems and order management

Supply Procurement & Analytics
  • Establish and maintain supply relationships to support fuel needs with both internal and external resources
  • Analyze and define market trends for decision-making on buying/selling opportunities
  • Generate and expedite purchase order agreements to meet internal expectations for profitability and timing
  • Interface with all departments to resolve problems related to order fulfillment and bill of product on both customer and vendor base
  • Utilize business understanding to leverage advantageous supply sourcing to maximize arbitrage opportunities

Business Systems
  • Implement process improvements towards fully integrated business systems
  • Ensure records are accurate and consistent across various internal systems for timely billing and account reconciliation
  • Collecting incoming statements of product delivery and vendor invoices to match internal transactions of customer, supplier, and product
  • Manage internal transactions for accuracy with financial reporting
  • Investigate discrepancies and correspond with internal/external groups to achieve resolution and data accuracy

Dispatch Sourcing
  • Schedule and dispatch transportation for pickup and delivery of fuel products
  • Negotiate freight with 100 common carriers' fleets across the US and work with sales and supply to facilitate orders for customer base
  • Coordinate work orders with carriers for appropriate delivery of product at ship-to location to meet customer requests and specifications
  • Oversee orders to completion with the focus on efficient timing and maximizing profitability in sourcing
  • Spearhead new relationships with carriers in growing territories
  • Work with internal delivered groups on carrier loading issues for resolution
  • Collaborate with contracts and supply to provide optimized freight rates to be leveraged on new business opportunities.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Advanced Excel skills preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills in fast paced environment
  • Ability to manage customer issues with minimal supervision.
  • Strong work ethic, initiative, and sense of urgency.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Professional, personable, and relationship-oriented.
  • Adaptable in a fast-paced, changing business environment.

Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:
  • Associate Specialist requires a bachelor's degree and 0-2 years of relevant job experience.
  • Specialist level requires a bachelor's degree and 2-5 years of relevant job related experience
  • Senior Specialist level requires a bachelor's degree and 5-8 years of relevant job related experience
  • Lead Specialist level requires a bachelor's degree and 8+ years of relevant job related experience
