Position description
The Lead Machine Maintenance Technician provides advanced technical expertise and leadership in the maintenance and troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment. This position is responsible for performing electrical or mechanical troubleshooting and maintenance on assigned systems and materials on the production floor. The role involves diagnosing issues in non-functioning electro-mechanical equipment used in the manufacturing process. This role is responsible for guiding maintenance activities, mentoring team members, and ensuring consistent adherence to safety, quality, and operational standards. The Lead Technician partners with machine operators, manufacturing engineering, and quality teams to drive continuous improvement, maximize equipment reliability, and ensure customer satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Machine Maintenance
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance on additive manufacturing machines and related equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Regularly inspect machines and equipment for signs of wear, damage, or malfunction
  • Conduct scheduled repairs and replacements of machine parts, ensuring minimal downtime and consistent production flow.
  • Respond promptly to machine breakdowns, diagnosing issues and performing emergency repairs to minimize production interruptions.
  • Calibrate machines to ensure they meet production specifications and quality standards.
  • Use diagnostic tools and techniques to identify and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and software issues in additive manufacturing equipment.
  • Notifies the Machine Maintenance Supervisor or facility Director of machines needing repair or more extensive maintenance.
  • Monitors any outside vendors on site for repairs.
  • Perform root cause analysis on recurring problems to develop and implement permanent solutions.
  • Make necessary adjustments to machine settings and parameters to optimize performance and output quality.
  • Coordinates administrative activities including resources allocation, installation of new equipment and parts transactions, maintain accurate performance reports on the equipment.

Technical Support
  • Oversees the reliability and uptime issues on equipment in ensure high level of satisfaction and reliability of prototypes and production parts on 3D printers for customers
  • Trouble shoots and repairs software controlled electro-mechanical systems. Performs root cause analysis of equipment failure
  • Uses test and diagnostic equipment to perform checkouts. Rebuilds manufacturing equipment as required. Will perform equipment modifications as directed by manufacturing engineers.

Team Leadership & Development
  • You will serve as a backfill for the leader, as needed to assist with assigning work, prioritize activities, and ensure workload alignment with production needs.
  • Provide guidance, training and technical direction to maintenance technicians. Assist leadership with maintenance tracking and KPI's. Help manage day-to-day goals are met, and address challenges.

Reporting and Compliance
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment manuals, and inventory of spare parts.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels of spare parts and maintenance supplies, ensuring availability when needed.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and procurement teams to order necessary parts and materials for machine maintenance and repairs.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while performing maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards for machine safety and operation.

Support
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives and drive adherence to 5S.
  • Collaborate with other departments to address cross-functional issues related to equipment maintenance.

Other
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures
  • Attend all required company training
  • Demonstrate commitments to Stratasys Behaviors by leading, acting, and modeling these values.
  • Other Responsibilities as assigned by the department or manager

Basic Qualifications
  • Must be ITAR qualified
  • 6-10 years of related experience
  • Experience with various hand and power tools to perform the job
  • Proficient level with MS Office products.
  • Experience reading blue prints
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well with others

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of CAD/CAM software applications and Rapid Prototyping industry experience is strongly desired.
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Forklift preferred experience
  • CMMS UpKeep Software experience preferred
  • Over time may be required based on project levels

Travel required: No Travel

For this position, the typical annual starting base salary is from $75,000- $95,000 base salary, which does not include variable incentive pay. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. Your individual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, geographical location, and/or experiences.
