Job Summary
The City of Greenville's Recreation and Parks Department is seeking a part-time Tennis Program Coordinator for the River Birch Tennis Center. Under the direction of the Recreation Manager or designee, this position coordinates and oversees seasonal youth and adult tennis programming, trains part-time staff and supports the daily operations of the tennis facility. The Tennis Program Coordinator ensures programs are delivered safely and efficiently while providing exceptional customer service and fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for participants, staff, and visitors.
Minimum Age: 21 years old, at the time of application
Pay Rate: $25 per hour
Schedule: hours vary; approximately 20 hours a week, evenings as needed.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • must be able to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 40 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • valid North Carolina driver's license
  • 1 year of customer service
  • 3 - 5 years experience of playing tennis
  • First Aid, CPR, and AED certification are required within 90 days of hire

Preferred Requirements:
  • 3 years of tennis instruction, coaching, or program experience
  • experience with recreation programming, customer service, and administrative support
  • USPTA or PTR certification preferred (or equivalent experience)

Examples of Duties
  • supervise part-time staff and oversee operations of seasonal tennis programming;
  • provide customer service, maintain attendance and program records, and respond to participant inquiries;
  • coordinate schedules and communicate with part-time staff and volunteers;
  • open and close the facility and prepare, transport, set up, and maintain equipment;
  • monitor participant safety, enforce facility rules, and support light court and facility maintenance;
  • prepare reports; and
  • perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • knowledge of tennis instruction, recreation programming, and customer service
  • ability to teach tennis, organize programs, maintain records, communicate effectively, and manage multiple tasks.
  • ability to work independently, supervise participants, enforce rules, perform light maintenance, and work evenings as needed.
