Propulsion Controls Engineering has a job opening for an Outside Machinist Journeyman Diesel Mechanic, with a minimum of 5 years diesel experience preferred. PCE is a full service electro-mechanical repair and diesel repair contractor. PCE has garnered a wealth of extensive experience in successfully executing major system overhauls across numerous ports throughout the world on virtually every class of ship currently in operation.
Job Summary / Outside Machinist: Diesel Mechanic

Perform major and specialized mechanical overhaul and repair work on diesel marine engines and related marine equipment and systems using work specifications and technical manuals.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance and repair work performed.
  • Maintain open communication with the management team regarding job status, updates, and changes.
  • Communicate effectively with customers regarding repair needs and solutions.
  • Provide guidance and training to junior mechanics and apprentices.
  • Order and manage inventory of parts needed for repairs.
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position.

Position Requirements and Experience / Outside Machinist: Diesel Mechanic

  • Must be 18 years of age or older to apply.
  • Minimum 5 years of marine and/or shipyard experience preferred.
  • Use of measuring devices (rulers, micrometers, dial indicators, depth mics, scales, etc.), hand tools, and power tools
