Who We Want
Miller Industries is seeking a Mechanical Detailer to work on-site in Fenton, Michigan.
What You Will Be Doing
  • Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings of mechanical components and assemblies, primarily using SolidWorks software.
  • Collaborate with design engineers and other team members to interpret design concepts and specifications, ensuring accurate representation in the CAD models and drawings.
  • Develop and optimize sheet metal designs for manufacturability, considering material selection, bending allowances, tolerance requirements, and assembly constraints.
  • Generate accurate bills of materials (BOMs) and production drawings for fabrication and assembly of sheet metal components.
  • Conduct design reviews to identify potential issues or improvements in the design, offering innovative solutions when necessary.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and fabrication teams to address any design-related challenges during the production process.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations in the creation of detailed drawings and models.
  • Perform design calculations, simulations, and analysis to validate the integrity and performance of the mechanical designs.
  • Stay updated with the latest developments in sheet metal design, manufacturing techniques, and SolidWorks software enhancements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance design processes, tools, and documentation standards.

What Requirements Are Needed
  • Experience as a Mechanical Detailer or similar role, focusing on sheet metal design and SolidWorks software.
  • Strong understanding of sheet metal manufacturing processes, including bending, forming, punching, and welding.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and codes related to sheet metal design and fabrication.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to identify and resolve design issues effectively.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional certification in SolidWorks or other relevant CAD software.
  • Experience working in industries such as automotive, HVAC, aerospace, or manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with other 3D modeling software and analysis tools, such as AutoCAD, CATIA, REVIT, or ANSYS.
