Job description

Mercury Systems is seeking the best and brightest engineering talent to help us deliver cuttingedge technology for missioncritical aerospace and defense applications, advancing innovation where it matters most.

In this role, our team is looking for an Electrical Engineer II who will serve as a Hardware Design Space Board Designer, executing boardlevel hardware development activities from concept through production. You will work on secure processing systems, advanced FPGA solutions, highdensity storage modules, and electronics engineered for extreme space environments. This position plays a critical role in designing highreliability embedded hardware for space, airborne, and defense platforms, driving technical excellence and contributing directly to national security and the safety of our world.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Develop boardlevel digital circuits and modules that meet spacegrade system and customer requirements, from concept through production
  • Manage embedded hardware development activities including compute modules, storage modules, and highreliability designs for space applications
  • Design highperformance, highreliability PCBs using processing and storage components qualified for space missions
  • Analyze design quality through peer reviews, verification efforts, and thorough testing to reduce integration risk and ensure mission readiness
  • Collaborate with manufacturingto address board build issues, support DFM/DFA/DFT activities, and participate in failure investigations
  • Develop detailed schematics using tools such as Cadence DEHDL (Concept) and collaborate with CAD/SI teams during PCB layout

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
  • Typically requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant electrical engineering experience in boardlevel hardware design, manufacturing, or sustaining roles
  • Experience designing embedded digital hardware incorporating microprocessors, FPGAs, or highspeed network components
  • Proficiency in electronic circuit design, schematic capture, and troubleshooting of digital, analog, and power circuits; understanding of signal integrity fundamentals for highspeed digital design

"This position requires you to have or obtain a government security clearance. Security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens."

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with FPGAbased board designs or highdensity storage devices
  • Development experience with embedded highspeed interfaces (10G+)
  • Familiarity with radiationtolerant components and space derating guidelines
  • Experience performing worstcase circuit analysis for space applications
  • Experience with VITA 46/78 (VPX/ SpaceVPX)
  • Strong interest in spacegrade electronics design
  • Proficiency with Cadence Allegro for PCB analysis and design review
  • Understanding of signalintegrity principles for highspeed digital boards
  • Experience with requirementsmanagement tools (JAMA, DOORS) or Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence)
  • Knowledge of DFM, DFT, DFR, and costaware design practices
  • Experience contributing to or leading small engineering tasks or work packages
  • Knowledge or experience with radiation effects on electronic hardware (TID, SEE, etc.)
