THE WORK
Lockheed Martin is seeking a talented Level 3 Hardware Engineer with a Secret clearance to work from an OCONUS location.
This is a rotating shift position for a remote satellite ground station located in Europe..
The selected candidate will join an experienced team of engineers responsible for daily operations, maintenance, and engineering support of the ground station.
As Hardware Engineer you will:
• Perform satellite acquisition, process downlink data, and pass data via multiple data networks to globally distributed customers on a 24/7 basis.
• Isolate system failures, determine recovery strategies, and coordinate activities with various stakeholders.
• Recommend, specify, and coordinate system upgrade activities.
• Provide guidance to military customer in system operations, failure isolation, and equipment upgrade activities.
Qualified applicants with a current SECRET clearance will be provided location and other additional information.
This is an EARLY-MID CAREER (level 3) ROLE where candidates typically require 3+ years of professional experience and a BS degree.

Basic Qualifications
• Demonstrated ability in working with and resolving real-time problems on satellite ground station systems.
• Experience in local and wide area network troubleshooting.
• Ability to operate spectrum analyzers, firebird test sets, oscilloscope, and/or general electronic test equipment.
• Ability to utilize hand tools to work on mechanical assemblies such as antenna motors.
• Ability and desire to work rotating shifts and flexible schedule support.
• Has knowledge of electronic theory, networking techniques, telecommunications systems, and system level troubleshooting methods.
• Current DoD SECRET security clearance required.
Desired skills
• Experience with configuring satellite downlink antennas.
• Current or previous assignment to a satellite communications program.
• Design and recommend system upgrade solutions to replace aging system hardware.
• Experience repairing mechanical systems such as large parabolic dish antennas.
• Fluency with configuration management processes needed to perform system upgrades.
• Ability to operate Unix-based computer systems.
• Proficient in troubleshooting system level problems with networked data processing systems.
• Demonstrated experience in working outside of the U.S. on classified military networks with export control restrictions.
• Ability to interface in a personable and professional manner under stressful conditions with military customers and contractor coworkers.
• Proficient in Unix operating systems (AIX, Redhat, Irix, FreeBSD) and use of command line inputs using a terminal emulator.
• Ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance is required.

Work Schedule Information
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
National Pay Statement
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $85,500 - $150,765. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.
(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
