LabCorp is seeking a Point of Care Clinical Laboratory Team Leader to join our team at Ascension St. Thomas Midtownin Nashville, Tennessee

Work Schedule:Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm with occasional weekends. start/end time flexible.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overseeing waived and moderate complexity point-of-care testing
  • Provide training and ongoing support to nursing and clinical staff
  • Develops, coordinates, and documents training and competency assessments for nursing and clinical staff performing POC testing.
  • Collaborates with laboratory leadership, nursing leadership, and clinical departments to implement new testing platforms and workflow improvements.
  • Serves as the subject matter expert for POC testing policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Manages POC instrumentation, including validation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and serve as a key resource for troubleshooting
  • Identify and replenish testing supplies, reagents, and inventory to support uninterrupted operations.
  • Conducts regular rounding on patient care units to support nursing staff, troubleshoot point-of-care testing issues, and ensure adherence to quality and competency standards.
  • Monitors quality control, proficiency testing, and corrective actions to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
  • Reviews quality metrics, compliance reports, and testing records to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Investigates testing discrepancies, quality events, and non-compliance issues and implements corrective actions.
  • Participates in regulatory inspections, audits, and accreditation surveys related to point-of-care testing.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology
  • Tennessee Medical Laboratory Supervisor License or ability to obtain it within 30 days of hire
  • 5 or more years of experience as a Medical Laboratory Technologist/Technician
  • ASCP Certification

Preferred Qualifications:

    • One or more years of experience as a Point of Care Lead/Coordinator/Specialist
    • One or more years of prior leadership experience

    Additional Job Standards:

    • In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirement
    • Strong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP and relevant state regulations
    • Familiarity with laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
    • Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal
    • Strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office
    • High levelof attention to detail with strong organizational and prioritization skills
    • Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to make decisions in afast pacedenvironment
    • Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
    • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
