    Labcorp is seeking a hybrid Director, Sourcing Center of Excellence (COE), to join our team in Burlington, or Durham, North Carolina.

    Work Schedule

    This is a fulltime, exempt (salaried) position assigned to a schedule, with standard business hours from Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in your time zone.

    This schedule includes a minimum of three in-office days per week in Burlington or Durham, NC (Wednesdays are mandatory) supporting both collaboration and flexibility

    Business needs may occasionally require flexibility in work hours, including earlier, later, or additional hours, with reasonable notice provided when possible.

    The Director, Sourcing Center of Excellence (COE) is a strategic sourcing leader responsible for advancing procurement excellence, category management, supplier governance, and sourcing transformation initiatives across Labcorp's global operations. This role partners with senior business leaders to develop and execute sourcing strategies that enhance supply continuity, operational performance, cost competitiveness, risk mitigation, and supplier innovation in a highly regulated healthcare, diagnostics, and laboratory services environment.

    The Director will play a key role in establishing and maturing a centralized Sourcing Center of Excellence, driving standardization, governance, analytics, strategic sourcing methodologies, and procurement best practices across both Direct and Indirect spend categories. The successful candidate will combine strong category management expertise with operational leadership, stakeholder engagement, supplier relationship management, and continuous improvement capabilities.

    This position is ideal for a sourcing leader with experience building scalable procurement processes, implementing sourcing governance frameworks, and leading multi-functional initiatives within healthcare, diagnostics, life sciences, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, laboratory, or similarly regulated industries.

    Job Responsibilities

    Strategic Sourcing & Category Management

    • Lead sourcing strategies and category management initiatives across a diverse portfolio of Direct, Indirect, and Strategic Procurement categories.
    • Develop category strategies supporting laboratory diagnostics, healthcare operations, clinical testing, patient services, scientific operations, and enterprise business functions.
    • Drive sourcing strategies for categories that may include:
      • Laboratory instrumentation and equipment
      • Diagnostic platforms and testing technologies
      • Reagents, consumables, chemicals, and laboratory supplies
      • Clinical and scientific products
      • Logistics, transportation, and distribution services
      • Information technology and digital solutions
      • Professional and corporate services
      • Facilities, MRO, capital equipment, and indirect spend categories
      • Identify sourcing opportunities that improve supplier performance, operational efficiency, quality, innovation, and total cost of ownership.

    Sourcing Center of Excellence Leadership

    • Partner with senior leadership to build and enhance a centralized Sourcing Center of Excellence that drives consistency, governance, analytics, and sourcing best practices globally.
    • Establish sourcing policies, procedures, templates, playbooks, and governance mechanisms that improve procurement effectiveness and compliance.
    • Drive standardization of sourcing methodologies, supplier management frameworks, and category planning processes across the enterprise.
    • Champion continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen procurement maturity and organizational capability.

    Supplier Management & Strategic Partnerships

    • Develop executive-level relationships with critical suppliers and strategic business partners.
    • Lead complex negotiations involving pricing, service levels, quality requirements, supply assurance, innovation initiatives, and contractual protections.
    • Drive supplier performance management, supplier segmentation, business reviews, and supplier development initiatives.
    • Partner with suppliers to identify opportunities for innovation, operational improvement, and risk reduction.

    Risk Management & Regulatory Compliance

    • Develop sourcing strategies that support resilient supply chains and business continuity objectives.
    • Implement supplier risk management programs addressing supply disruption, regulatory compliance, quality performance, cybersecurity, data privacy, and operational risk.
    • Support sourcing activities in highly regulated environments where patient care, laboratory operations, data integrity, product quality, and compliance requirements are critical.
    • Partner with Legal, Quality, Compliance, Regulatory Affairs, Operations, and Supply Chain teams to ensure supplier governance and adherence to applicable regulations.

    Analytics, Transformation & Technology

    • Leverage spend analytics, market intelligence, supplier performance metrics, and financial analysis to drive sourcing decisions.
    • Utilize sourcing technologies, procurement platforms, contract lifecycle management tools, and business intelligence solutions to improve performance and visibility.
    • Support procurement transformation initiatives, supplier transitions, technology implementations, process automation efforts, and digital sourcing programs.
    • Develop business cases, executive presentations, financial models, and sourcing recommendations for senior leadership review.

    Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement

    • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of sourcing and procurement professionals.
    • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
    • Partner closely with Operations, Laboratory Leadership, Clinical Operations, Finance, Quality, IT, Legal, Commercial, and Executive Leadership teams.
    • Influence decision-making through strong business acumen, executive communication, and data-driven recommendations.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Finance, Life Sciences, Engineering, Healthcare Administration, or a related discipline.
    • 7+ years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, category management, supply chain, supplier management, or sourcing operations.
    • 3+ years of direct people leadership experience, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and talent development.
    • 5+ years of experience developing and executing sourcing strategies that deliver measurable value through cost optimization, operational improvement, supplier performance enhancement, risk mitigation, and business value creation.
    • 3+ years of experience leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing stakeholders across procurement, supply chain, operations, finance, legal, quality, and business functions.
    • 3+ years of experience delivering executive-level presentations, business cases, sourcing recommendations, and strategic communications to senior leadership and key stakeholders.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • MBA or master's degree in business, Supply Chain, Procurement, Finance, Operations, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
    • 10+ years of sourcing, procurement, supply chain, or category management experience.
    • 5+ years of experience supporting sourcing, procurement, supplier management, or category management initiatives within healthcare, diagnostics, laboratory services, life sciences, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, or other highly regulated industries.
    • 2+ years of experience building, supporting, implementing, or enhancing a Procurement Center of Excellence (COE), Sourcing COE, category management framework, sourcing governance model, or procurement transformation program.
    • One or more professional certifications such as CPSM, CIPS, CSCP, CPIM, CPM, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt, APICS/ASCM, or equivalent procurement, supply chain, operations, or continuous improvement credentials.
    • 3+ years of experience utilizing enterprise procurement and sourcing technologies such as SAP, Ariba, Coupa, Oracle, iCertis, or comparable ERP, contract lifecycle management, e-sourcing, spend analytics, and supplier management platforms.
    • 3+ years of experience leading or supporting sourcing transformation initiatives, procurement governance programs, supplier performance management frameworks, operational excellence projects, process standardization efforts, or procurement maturity improvements.
    • 3+ years of experience leveraging spend analytics, supplier performance metrics, business intelligence tools, or procurement reporting platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, SAP Analytics, or equivalent technologies to support sourcing decisions and business outcomes.
    • Exposure to global supplier management, international sourcing strategies, and multinational business environments.
