Job description

Company Overview

Imagine a piloted air taxi that takes off vertically, then quietly carries you and your fellow passengers over the congested city streets below, enabling you to spend more time with the people and places that matter most. At Joby, we've been working to make that dream a reality since 2009 and we're now in the final stages of certifying our aircraft with the FAA. With plans to launch our aircraft in the US and Dubai, we're now scaling manufacturing and preparing for the launch of our commercial service.

Overview

Joby Aviation is seeking an Aftermarket Spares & Repairs Manager to join our growing Aftermarket Support Engineering Team. This role focuses on developing and scaling our OEM Spares and Repairs support infrastructure as we prepare for the commercial launch of our S4 aircraft program. Located in Santa Cruz, CA, this position will lead a team of specialists in developing and executing long-term spares and repairs strategies. The individual will work cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, maintenance, and operations teams to successfully deploy aftermarket strategies and maintain overall fleet readiness.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of subject matter experts within the Joby aftermarket organization

  • Manage day-to-day operations, assign priorities, and balance workloads across short-term urgent fleet needs and long-term strategic initiatives

  • Drive the strategy and execution of parts program response levels based on critical field needs (e.g., AOG, Urgent, Standard)

  • Establish, standardize, and optimize workflows and procedures to meet immediate operational needs while ensuring scalable, long-term growth

  • Collaborate closely with manufacturing teams to align aftermarket support strategies, balancing production and aftermarket requirements

  • Champion organizational evolution toward critical development and maturity milestones as they relate to global repairs management

  • Synthesize field feedback to systematically improve processes, tools, and cross-functional ways of working

Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, Aviation Management, or equivalent practical experience

  • 8+ years of experience in an aftermarket spares/repairs product support function within a fast-paced or scaling environment

  • 3+ years of proven experience in direct people management and team leadership

  • Demonstrated experience operating within a highly regulated industry (e.g., Aerospace, Aviation, Medical Devices/Pharma, or EV/Battery manufacturing with UL certifications)

  • Solid understanding of commercial, financial, and contractual aspects of a spares and repairs business

  • Strong understanding of parts management processes, including plannable and urgent distribution workflows

  • Proven ability to manage complex project timelines, balancing immediate operational crises with long-term strategic roadmaps

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven track record of motivating teams and influencing cross-functional stakeholders toward shared goals

Desired
  • Prior experience working within an Aircraft OEM environment

  • Hands-on background in logistics, aviation maintenance (technician), or engineering

  • Experience navigating fast-evolving organizations and guiding teams through formal change management procedures

  • Deep knowledge of worldwide spares logistics planning and global distribution strategy
