Job description

Buyer

Hypertherm Associates is seeking a Buyer who will support our Waterjet team in New Brighton, MN, and be accountable for maintaining optimal quantity of supplied goods in a cost-effective manner to support a JIT manufacturing environment to ensure scheduled production is never lost.


As a Buyer you will:

  • Ensure timely and efficient execution of all Purchase Orders and releases for suppliers and managing exceptions

  • Support the daily execution of replenishment methods (i.e., Kanban, Min Max) for all inventory items to ensure continuity of supply and inventory accuracy while optimizing production

  • Analyze and monitor supply data (i.e., production schedules, supplier promise dates and delivery performance) to expedite current production, resolve supply related production issues, and proactively mitigate potential future disruptions in production

  • Execute the return to supply process to ensure debit memos are generate for product returned to suppliers

  • Support Master Schedulers and Category Managers by providing accurate and timely data (e.g., packing list and invoice accuracy) to comply with treasury and accounting practices

  • Support the production plan by continually evaluating on-hand quantity needs, on-hand supplier quantities and consumption rates to maximize production and minimize inventory write-offs of components undergoing ECs in support of the product life-cycle

  • Support other projects for their work area and team as assigned

Who you are and the experience you bring:

  • Associates Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. 0-2 years' experience in planning/purchasing or related field

  • Knowledge of Engineering Changes Processes

  • Proficient in Oracle

  • Knowledge of Parts Management

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel

  • Basic Negotiations

  • Strong written and verbal communications

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Knowledge of a manufacturing environment

Preferred experience to differentiate you:

  • A.S. Business Management or related field with 2+ years of experience

  • Knowledge of Materials Replenishment and Inventory Control Modules of ERP Knowledge of Hypertherm products

  • Knowledge of industrial equipment manufacturing

  • Knowledge of Lean/JIT production

  • Intermediate Negotiations
