The Production Artist is responsible for preparing and optimizing artwork for apparel screen printing production. In this role, you will bridge the gap between creative design and manufacturing by ensuring all graphics are accurate, print-ready, and aligned with shop capabilities and client specifications. Working closely with sales, designers, and production, you will convert customer-supplied or in-house designs into clean, separable artwork suitable for high-quality screen printing on garments.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare and format artwork for screen printing, heat seal, and DTF production using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Create and refine color separations, including spot colors, under bases/underlays, and channel separations
  • Convert customer and internal artwork into production-ready files (outline fonts, clean vectors, correct color modes)
  • Review and proof artwork specifications for size, placement, and color accuracy
  • Develop and update mockups and revisions for client and brand approvals
  • Maintain organized digital file structures aligned with active production jobs
  • Ensure artwork is optimized for real press capabilities and garment limitations
  • Collaborate with the R&D team to support artwork modifications during sampling and development
  • Output and print films for large-format, all-over print (AOP), or jumbo designs
  • Communicate with customers as needed to clarify concepts, revisions, or artwork requirements
  • Download and manage artwork files from various file-sharing systems such as WeTransfer, Box, and SharePoint

Qualifications
  • 3-5 years experience in apparel decoration, screen printing, sign shops, or promotional products
  • Detail-oriented with the proven ability to prepare and deliver production-ready artwork files
  • Familiarity with spot color workflows and Pantone (PMS) color matching systems
  • Strong time management skills: able to handle multiple projects & deadlines simultaneously with quick-turn production schedules in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, with a strong focus on vector-based artwork and separations in Illustrator & image editing and raster preparation in Photoshop
  • Solid understanding of vector artwork principles and image resolution standards (300 DPI for print)
  • Willing to adjust schedule as needed during peak production periods

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $25.00- $30.00 per hour. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the compensation for this position. Pay will be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
