Job description

Diamondback Energy is an independent oil and natural gas company headquartered in Midland, Texas. We are focused on the acquisition, development, exploration, and exploitation of unconventional, onshore oil and natural gas reserves in the Permian Basin in West Texas.
The Landman Intern will own an assigned summer project while working directly on business functions such as lease and contract analysis, ownership and title review, courthouse research, and surface use negotiations.
Duration: Approximately 12 weeks (May - August 2027)
Job Responsibilities
Include, but are not limited to
  • Work on an assigned, individual Land project throughout the summer, culminating in a presentation of the completed project to Diamondback's executive team
  • Develop and increase knowledge in all phases of Land under the direction of an assigned, experienced mentor
  • Research and analyze leases, operating agreements, term assignments, and other contracts to determine obligations
  • Confirm ownership in operated and non-operated wells to determine options for well proposals
  • Assist in surface use agreements and negotiations with landowners, review title opinions and perform title curative responsibilities
  • Work directly with teams across other disciplines to experience what working in an Oil & Gas Exploration and Production company is like
  • Participate in on-site field visits to learn about field operations, including an active drilling rig and active completions spread
  • Participate in intern events and philanthropic endeavors that support the Midland-Odessa community

Required Qualifications:
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree or higher in Energy Management/Energy Commerce
  • Must have strong interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills
  • Must be willing to work in Midland, TX for the duration of the internship
  • Must be returning to school for the Fall 2027 semester

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher
  • Extracurricular achievements or prior work experience
  • Membership in the American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL)
