Job description

The AI Manager - Product Management leads Diamondback Energy's Artificial Intelligence (AI) product management function, translating business priorities and opportunities into well-defined AI products that deliver measurable business outcomes. This role leads and develops AI Product Owners, establishes consistent product discovery and management practices, and ensures products are grounded in clearly defined business problems, user needs, success measures, and value hypotheses. Serving as a primary connection between business stakeholders and AI delivery teams, the manager drives disciplined discovery, rapid validation, product definition, business acceptance, adoption, and continuous improvement across the AI portfolio.
Job Responsibilities:
Include but are not limited to
  • Lead, coach, and develop AI Product Owners and product professionals; set clear expectations for product judgment, discovery rigor, product definition, stakeholder engagement, and outcome accountability, and hold consistent standards for product quality and product management discipline across the team.
  • Partner with business leaders, the AI Portfolio Lead, and AI leadership to translate prioritized enterprise opportunities into product strategies, roadmaps, requirements, and prioritized delivery plans.
  • Ensure every AI product has a clearly defined business problem, target users and workflows, success measures, requirements, acceptance criteria, value hypothesis, and accountable business sponsor before progressing through significant investment, working with business sponsors, the AI Value & Economics Lead, and the AI Portfolio Lead to confirm the supporting evidence.
  • Establish and scale AI-native validation practices across the product lifecycle, from rapid prototyping, workflow simulation, data exploration, user testing, and vendor evaluation during discovery, through business validation and user acceptance testing against defined user needs, acceptance criteria, and expected business outcomes.
  • Identify and manage product-level dependencies, delivery risks, and barriers to value realization across business and technology teams.
  • Drive sustained adoption of AI products by partnering with business leaders, change management, training, and enablement teams, and hold Product Owners accountable for post-launch adoption, product performance, and continuous improvement using user feedback, usage data, business outcomes, and value realization insights.
  • Communicate portfolio performance, risks, investment needs, and realized value to senior leadership.
  • Establish and continuously improve Diamondback's AI product management standards, methods, tools, and templates while preserving flexibility across products and business domains and build product management capability across the organization so business stakeholders understand their role in problem definition, product decisions, validation, adoption, and value realization.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in product management, product leadership, digital delivery, or a related function within a technology-intensive, enterprise environment.
  • 5+ years of people management experience, with a demonstrated ability to develop high-performing teams.
  • Experience leading an enterprise product portfolio with multiple concurrent products or initiatives.
  • Experience developing product strategies, roadmaps, business cases, and prioritization frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance strategic direction, delivery execution, stakeholder needs, and governance requirements.
  • Experience establishing and managing KPIs to measure product and portfolio outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in oil and gas, energy, or another asset-intensive industrial sector.
  • Experience deploying generative AI, machine learning, or advanced analytics products in production environments.
  • Working knowledge of AI lifecycle management, responsible AI practices, and enterprise product operating models.
  • Experience establishing or scaling a product management function, portfolio governance model, or AI product capability.
  • Experience applying AI-enabled tools and rapid prototyping techniques during product discovery and solution validation.
