Job description

Overview
Microsoft Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) is the team behind the cloud. CO+I is responsible for delivering over 200 Microsoft web portals, Live and Online Services around the world including infrastructure, security and compliance, operations, globalization, and manageability. Responsibilities
Change Management:
Works closely with the Internal Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I), and other Microsoft key stakeholders (e.g., Commercial Software Engineering [CSE] and Real Estate & Facilities [RE&F], etc.) and shares updated process flow information with the project team and minimal guidance, to ensure new processes are being followed that increases cost savings and improves overall cycle-time and efficiencies.
Coordination:
Attends scheduled owner/architect/contractor and other project meetings, advocating for safe and secure security-first mindset during project planning. Coordinates meetings and activities of vendors and cost managers, and attends scheduled owner/architect/contractor and other project meetings.
Drives Results:
Works with others to facilitate the delivery of local projects (e.g., new construction, infrastructure improvements) by providing recommendations on timely data-based decisions in partnership with local project teams and stakeholders, with minimal guidance. Builds rapport with the team and works towards project goals, adhering to business processes, supporting vendor relationships when/where applicable, and ensuring cross-group collaboration efforts aligned to the project strategy, milestone delivery, and core values and priorities (Safety, Security, Quality, Schedule, Cost), with minimal guidance.
Financial Acumen:
Applies best practices to identify and incorporate cost-effective solutions to meet project delivery at each site location. Provides information to assist senior leaders in developing strategies, identifying options, and recommending solutions, with minimal guidance.
Goal Alignment:
Establishes relationships with internal teams (e.g., Engineering, Operations, Center for International Social Science Research [CISSR], Commercial Software Engineering [CSE], Legal, Project Controls, etc.) to maintain the corporate vision and goals for the project, with minimal guidance.
Managing Resources:
Verifies that the scoped resources (e.g., people, materials, equipment) are available for the job. Works alongside construction staff to procure additional materials as needed, with minimal guidance.
Project Management:
Supports data center construction/integration activities on local/campus projects (e.g., new or retrofit data center facilities) and provides recommendations on all data center fit-out related activities, applying experiences existing knowledge, and independent judgment to ensure sound and data-driven decisions, as well as prioritization of security in documentation, design, and/or execution, with minimal guidance.
Project Tracking:
Provides specific project data supporting cost and key performance indicator (KPI) metrics, invoices, processes, and policies in order to communicate status to client partners, with minimal guidance. Reports on project progress regarding scope, schedule, standards, and budget, with minimal guidance.
Risk Mitigation:
Assists with developing risk mitigation activities and communicating metrics, dashboards, and/or scorecards to track and drive progress. Analyzes safety and security metrics to drive action and accountability with minimal guidance.
Safety and Regulation:
Follows guidelines and advocates for adherence to safety standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., Occupational Safety and Health Administration [OSHA], or equivalent) to ensure compliance and aggressive management of risk. Assists with routine safety program, security, project, and contractor audits, and participates in incident investigations with minimal guidance.
Technical Acumen:
Provides feedback to engineering documentation/designs, site, and building plans by examining and analyzing technical information, with minimal guidance. Analyzes and reviews potential risks/gaps and provides recommendations to teammates, ensuring solutions adhere to security core priorities and guidelines.
Vendor Management:
Assists with the monitoring of vendor and/or contractor performance, ensuring compliance with security policies, non-disclosure agreements, contracts, and prior audit results. Reviews vendor performance and clarifies those reports in presentations to the delivery and executive teams with minimal guidance.
Vendor Selection:
Supports others with preparing Request for Proposal (RFPs), Project Expenditure Requests (PERs), and other project approval tools and templates.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years related experience OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years related experience OR equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years experience working on data center projects.

Construction Project Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $97,600 - $188,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $125,000 - $206,400 per year.
