Job description

IT Manager (hands on) needed for a contract to hire onsite (4 days a week) in New York, NY!
We are looking for a hands-on IT leader to support day-to-day technology operations, partner with our managed service provider, and help ensure employees and offices have dependable, well-run technology. This position will be onsite 4 days a week and require occasional travel to other company location in NY. Position Summary We are seeking an experienced IT Manager to oversee day-to-day technology operations, coordinate with our managed service provider (MSP), and provide hands-on support across the organization. This role combines deskside support, vendor coordination, project execution, practical IT leadership, and oversight of core business technology across corporate offices and managed properties.
You will work closely with our outsourced MSP, which supports core remote operations and infrastructure, while coordinating local support needs, escalations, vendors, Microsoft 365 and identity administration, endpoint management, and site technology initiatives. You will also help ensure technology remains secure, reliable, and aligned with business needs across multiple offices and properties.
This role is best suited for a well-rounded IT professional who is comfortable being hands-on, coordinating with external partners, and balancing daily support responsibilities with longer-term improvements.
Operational IT Leadership
  • Oversee day-to-day IT operations across the main office and off-site locations in NYC and remote offices in Washington, DC.
  • Serve as the primary internal point of coordination for technology issues, improvement opportunities, and support needs.
  • Help monitor system performance, reliability, and support trends, and recommend upgrades or improvements to management.
  • Maintain visibility into hardware inventory, software licenses, and key IT assets across multiple locations.
  • Help develop and maintain practical IT policies, procedures, and documentation to improve consistency, compliance, and operational efficiency.
  • Make recommendations to management on technology priorities, upgrades, vendor solutions, operational improvements, and related cost considerations.
  • Occasional after-hours support may be required for rare emergencies or urgent on-site issues.
MSP & Vendor Coordination
  • Serve as the primary internal liaison to the MSP and other technology vendors.
  • Coordinate support requests, escalations, and follow-up with external providers.
  • Participate in service reviews, issue prioritization, and vendor performance discussions.
  • Coordinate with telecom, internet, hardware, and software partners as needed.
On-Site & Deskside Support
  • Provide hands-on support for onboarding, offboarding, device setup, email/account coordination, and day-to-day user technology needs.
  • Provide executive technology support as needed.
  • Deliver in-person support for issues that require local troubleshooting or physical setup.
  • Serve as a key escalation point for on-site issues that cannot be resolved remotely.
Phone Systems & Site Technology Coordination
  • Coordinate support and changes for the company's phone systems, including the main office VoIP environment and a mix of systems across off-site locations.
  • Serve as the internal point person for building and workplace technologies, including access control, surveillance, intercoms, conference room systems, and related site technology vendors.
  • Act as the internal point person with telecom, internet, and site technology service providers.
  • Help coordinate upgrades, replacements, standardization efforts, and issue resolution across locations.
IT Projects & Continuous Improvement
  • Support IT projects such as site technology upgrades, hardware refreshes, telecom improvements, office moves, cloud-related changes, and operational enhancements.
  • Work with management, the MSP, and vendors to help move projects forward in a practical, organized way.
  • Coordinate business application and property technology changes, integrations, or upgrades as needed.
  • Identify and document opportunities to improve support, consistency, end-user experience, and business continuity readiness
Required
  • 5+ years of progressive IT experience in a hands-on support, systems, infrastructure, or operations role.
  • Strong experience supporting end users, devices, onboarding/offboarding, and day-to-day office technology.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Windows environments, identity and access administration, networking, cloud services, and endpoint management.
  • Familiarity with core cybersecurity practices such as access controls, endpoint protection, backup awareness, and support for secure operating standards.
  • Experience coordinating with vendors, service providers, or managed services partners.
  • Strong communication, organization, and follow-through skills.
  • Comfort supporting multiple sites, remote users, and balancing support work with project responsibilities.
  • A college degree is preferred, but relevant hands-on experience will be valued most.
Preferred
  • Experience in property management, real estate, or other multi-site business environments.
  • Experience supporting or coordinating business applications such as Yardi, BuildingLink, AppFolio, MRI, or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with VoIP, mixed phone system environments, and site technologies such as access control or surveillance systems.
  • Working knowledge of cloud backup solutions, endpoint security tools, mobile device management, virtualization, wireless infrastructure, or networking equipment.
  • Industry certifications are valued and encouraged, including ITIL, CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco, or security-related certifications.
