Job description

Role: Database Administrator
Duration: 6+ Months

Location: Remote
Role Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned Oracle DBA skilled in production support with atleast 6+ years of experience with proven expertise in managing Oracle database environments. Having additional skill of managing Pgsql, Sql Server any other databases are desired. The ideal candidate will excel in operational management ensuring database performance, reliability, and security for enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record in troubleshooting, performance tuning, and database operations on on-premises and cloud platforms (Azure and GCP).
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 24x7 production support for databases across on-premises and cloud (Azure, GCP) environments via rotational shifts and on-call duties. Administer, monitor, and maintain databases in production and non-production environments. Implement and manage backup, recovery, tuning, HA, and DR (Disaster Recovery) strategies. Perform routine health checks, proactively identify performance bottlenecks, and optimize queries and database configurations. Manage database security, user permissions, and compliance with organizational policies. Coordinate and execute database patching, upgrades, and migrations with minimal downtime. Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to support deployment activities and resolve database-related issues. Monitor and resolve incidents, including root cause analysis and documentation of resolutions. Automate routine operational tasks using scripts or management tools. Document database procedures, configurations, and support processes for internal knowledge sharing.
Required Skills and Experience-
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. 6+ years of hands-on experience as a DBA managing multiple database technologies Oracle(must), PgSQL, Sqlserver etc database environments. Strong SQL scripting and database troubleshooting skills. Automate and optimize routine operational tasks using scripting (PowerShell, T-SQL, SQL, Shell scripting, Python etc) In-depth knowledge of backup/recovery, high availability (Clustering, AlwaysOn, DataGuard, etc.), and performance tuning for both platforms. Experience with database monitoring tools - Dynatrace, Azure Monitor, Nagios etc and automation frameworks such as Ansible and Terraform . Solid understanding of database security best practices. Proven experience with patching, upgrading, and migrating databases. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operations setting. Ability to support DB audit requirements and license management. Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, Oracle Database Administrator Certified Professional, or equivalent. Exposure to cloud-based database services (Azure, GCP etc). Experience with automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform, Shell scripting, Python).
