Job description

Supply Chain Management (SCM) Overview

SCM's vision is to be the best proactive partners, essential experts, and commercial stewards to enable Chevron to deliver the energy the world needs. Chevron spends billions of dollars annually on goods and services to support our global operations. The SCM function collaborates within Chevron and across the companies we work with to deliver goods and services to Chevron safely, reliably, and at a competitive cost. The function's strategic processes include Category Management, Contracting, Strategic Sourcing, Market Intelligence, Procurement Operations, Materials Management, Logistics, and Supplier Diversity/Local Content.

SCM plays a critical role in enabling Chevron to deliver on its mission to provide the affordable, reliable, and ever-cleaner energy the world needs. Our purpose is to create and manage the supply chains that enable human progress.

SCM Development Program (SCMDP) Interns:

SCMDP Interns will gain a better understanding of Chevron's business and learn more about our people and culture. This program will give the participants hands-on Supply Chain Management experience that will develop and broaden critical skills and competencies.

SCMDP Interns will contribute to multiple initiatives that support broader business and supply chain objectives. The role provides exposure to key supply chain initiatives through market research, data and process analysis, and participation in digital solutions that build capability, improve efficiency, and support informed decision making across SCM and procurement organizations. Frequent interaction with leadership, senior managers, current program members, and program alumni can be expected. Assignments span the end-to-end global supply chain across multiple asset classes, Corporate, and Business Unit roles. Assignments are driven by business needs.

Prior internship assignments include:

  • Business Intelligence & Data Visualization (e.g., spend, inventory, cost, etc.)

  • Category planning, strategic sourcing, negotiations strategy & execution

  • Business process improvement across the enterprise (e.g., logistics, contracting, materials management, inventory management, demand planning, etc.)

  • Evaluation and deployment of digital solutions, including change management

  • Benchmarking our performance and making and/or implementing recommendations to improve results

  • Market intelligence for existing and new products/services

  • Project management

Positions are typically located in Houston, Texas or other US location.

Qualifications:

  • Chevron seeks talented first-year MBA (Master of Business Administration) or Master's students with an interest in Supply Chain Management and exhibit the following preferred skills and qualifications:

  • Prior internship or relevant experience in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or a related field

  • Strong analytical, problemsolving, and business acumen, with the ability to translate data into insights

  • Demonstrated strategic thinking, including the ability to connect analyses and recommendations to broader business objectives

  • Leadership potential, shown through initiative, adaptability, and the ability to influence and collaborate

  • An innovative and digitally curious mindset, including openness to leveraging analytics, automation, and emerging technologies (e.g., AIenabled tools) to improve supply chain outcomes

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey insights clearly to diverse audiences

  • Commitment to teamwork, diversity, inclusion, and integrity

  • A strong growth mindset, with openness to learning, experimenting with new approaches, and exploring a variety of Procurement and Supply Chain business areas

  • Ability to receive, apply, and learn from feedback to continuously improve performance and impact

Required Intern Qualifications

  • Geographically mobile

  • Permanent US Work Authorization

Prior interns typically have completed a bachelor's degree in a technical and/or analytical discipline (e.g., engineering, finance, data science, business analytics, etc.) and have 3+ years' work experience.

After the internship, full-time opportunities into the Supply Chain Management Development Program (SCMDP), which is a 2-year formal development program consisting of three 8-month rotations, may be offered to selected interns at the end of the 12-week Chevron internship. Direct placement position offers will also be considered.

Relocation Options:

Relocation may be considered within Chevron parameters.

International Considerations:

Expatriate assignments will not be considered.

  • The anticipated monthly range for this position is $6600 - $9600. The selected candidate's monthly rate will be determined based on their respective discipline, degree level and academic year for U.S. payroll offers.
