Job description

Choice Hotels International is looking for an Analytics and Visualization Manager with a passion for turning data into decisions, not just dashboards. This role operates at the intersection of business intelligence, AI tooling, and analytical storytelling, and plays a central role in shaping how our franchise network, commercial teams, and senior leaders interact with data at the business unit and company level.
You will serve as a senior contributor within a high-performing Analytics team that builds everything from predictive models to generative AI products. Your focus will be on building the intelligence layer end-to-end: architecting and delivering analytics data products that surface strategic insights, enable conversational exploration, and close the gap between data and action - with direct implications for business unit revenue, cost, and performance outcomes.
For years, analytics teams have largely operated on a request-and-report model: someone needs an answer, submits a request, and a manual analysis or report is built. This role is part of a broader effort to build data products that proactively surface meaningful insights, provide AI-generated summaries, and enable business users to explore data independently. The objective is to reduce one-off reporting requests by delivering scalable, self-service data products with continuously available insights.
Choice Hotels operates as a franchisor, which means data products must serve a wide range of users - from a hotel owner reviewing nightly performance to a segment executive evaluating portfolio strategy. This role is responsible for designing analytics experiences that are intelligent, proactive, and scalable: surfacing the right insight, in the right context, before the user has to ask for it. The opportunity here is not just to build dashboards, but to shape the analytics product vision and influence how the entire organization thinks about data-driven decision-making.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Analytics Product Design & Insight Generation
  • Lead the end-to-end design and delivery of Tableau dashboards that pair advanced visualizations with AI-generated narrative commentary, surfacing key drivers, anomalies, and recommended actions for both operational and executive audiences
  • Serve as the internal authority on Tableau Pulse, Ask Data, and Einstein Discovery integrations, driving the adoption of automated insight surfaces that proactively deliver intelligence to business users without requiring manual requests
  • Develop and own a forward-looking roadmap for analytics data products aligned with mid to short-term business unit strategy, recommending approaches and prioritizing investments based on business impact
  • Collaborate with data scientists to translate model outputs and predictions into clear, actionable visual narratives that inform high-stakes business decisions across franchise operations, revenue management, and marketing
  • Define and govern the standards for analytics product design across the team, ensuring consistency, quality, and alignment with company strategy and governed data definitions

Conversational Analytics & AI-Augmented Intelligence
  • Architect and maintain sophisticated analytics experiences that enable across multiple business units to query data using natural language, reducing dependency on ad hoc report requests at scale
  • Lead prototyping and iterative development of LLM-integrated workflows - including connecting large language models with Redshift data sources to auto-generate performance summaries, anomaly explanations, and strategic narratives
  • Drive the strategic vision for self-service analytics across the organization, identifying opportunities to eliminate bottlenecks, improve data literacy, and empower business users to answer their own questions
  • Evaluate emerging AI and agentic development tools and recommend adoption strategies that accelerate the team's analytics delivery capabilities and align with enterprise technology standards
  • Contribute to cross-functional initiatives that integrate conversational analytics into broader enterprise data products and digital experiences

Data Architecture & Analytical Infrastructure
  • Architect and maintain robust, scalable data sources, flows, and published extracts that power both traditional dashboards and AI-augmented analytics experiences, ensuring performance, reliability, and governance at the business unit level
  • Write, optimize, and review complex SQL against AWS Redshift and S3 tables to source, validate, and structure data for Tableau dashboards, automated reporting workflows, and AI-generated outputs - ensuring accuracy, performance, and strict alignment with governed definitions
  • Design and deliver sophisticated user-friendly data products beyond dashboards, including Python-generated Excel reports, automated workbooks, and lightweight analytical tools that connect directly to governed data sources, reduce reliance on manual data pulls, and enable end-user data manipulation in familiar formats
  • Lead strategic partnerships with the Data Engineering team to ensure data readiness, platform scalability, and infrastructure alignment for current and future analytics product needs
  • Establish and enforce data quality standards, semantic layer governance, and documentation practices that ensure trusted, consistent use of analytics products across all stakeholder groups

Stakeholder Engagement, Influence & Communication
  • Translate highly ambiguous and strategically significant business questions from franchise operations, revenue management, marketing, and other business unit stakeholders into structured analytical frameworks and user-ready data products that drive measurable outcomes
  • Serve as a primary analytics thought partner and internal resource for business unit heads and department leaders, advising on data strategy, analytics product capabilities, and the interpretation of complex analytical outputs
  • Drive adoption and governance of Tableau dashboards and automated reporting workflows at scale by establishing enterprise usage standards, maintaining comprehensive documentation, enabling stakeholder communities, and monitoring adoption and data quality metrics to ensure consistent, trusted use across the organization
  • Influence departmental analytics strategies by identifying gaps, championing best practices, and recommending new approaches that align analytics capabilities with broader business unit and company objectives
  • Lead the development and delivery of compelling analytical narratives that address mixed audiences - from individual franchisees to segment executives - with clear, data-grounded storytelling that drives strategic alignment and action
  • May direct analytics workstreams or activities in a matrixed environment, coordinating across data science, engineering, and business teams to ensure integrated, high-quality delivery
  • Engage with external vendors, technology partners, and analytics platform providers to evaluate tools, negotiate capabilities, and integrate solutions that advance the team's strategic objectives

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in analytics, data, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 5-7 years of progressive experience building Tableau dashboards and analytics data products, including ownership of semantic layers, governed metrics, reusable data models, and enterprise-scale reporting infrastructure.
  • 5-7 years of experience writing advanced SQL queries, with deep experience in Redshift or other columnar databases; ability to design, optimize, and review complex analytical queries in a production environment.
  • Demonstrated experience architecting and delivering analytics products that directly support business unit revenue, cost, or performance outcomes.
  • Experience with query tools such as DBVisualizer, DBeaver, or similar; ability to evaluate and recommend tooling upgrades aligned with team needs.
  • Advanced knowledge of data modeling concepts, joins, aggregation logic, performance optimization, and semantic layer design principles.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), with demonstrated ability to create executive-ready deliverables.
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, or other Atlassian products for project tracking, documentation, and cross-functional coordination in agile delivery environments.
  • Proven experience using AI-assisted and agentic development tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, OpenAI Codex, or similar) to accelerate code development, automate reporting workflows, generate data-driven outputs, and prototype LLM-integrated analytics experiences.
  • Recognized internally as a primary resource for analytics best practices, Tableau governance, and AI-augmented BI capabilities, with the ability to translate functional concepts into strategies aligned with company goals.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with full accountability for data accuracy, consistency, and governance across dashboards, semantic layers, AI-generated outputs, and reporting workflows
  • Advanced analytical mindset with a demonstrated track record of independently identifying, investigating, and resolving complex and novel data, modeling, and reporting challenges with limited precedent.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex priorities simultaneously while maintaining data quality, delivery timelines, and strategic alignment across stakeholder groups.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data concepts into business strategies, influence senior stakeholders, and drive alignment on definitions, methodologies, and analytical outputs.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate with autonomy, take full ownership of strategic deliverables, and proactively navigate ambiguity in complex, cross-functional problem spaces.
  • Ability to influence departmental strategy in a matrixed environment, building credibility and driving adoption across business unit and analytics communities without formal authority.
