Property Accountant (Hourly)

Location: Hyatt House Seattle Downtown | Hyatt Place Seattle Downtown | Seattle, WA
Pay: $27.00 – $30.00 per hour
Schedule: Full-time | Monday-Friday (40 hours/week; some weekends and holidays may be required)
Status: Non-Exempt (Overtime Eligible)


Hotel Equities, a multi-award-winning hotel development and hospitality management company, is seeking a detail-oriented Property Accountant to support the financial operations at Hyatt House Seattle Downtown & Hyatt Place Seattle Downtown. This is a non-exempt, hourly position focused on transactional accounting, reconciliations, and financial record support. The role works under the direction of hotel leadership and does not include supervisory responsibilities. The Property Accountant supports the daily accounting functions of the hotel by preparing, reviewing, and maintaining financial records. This role helps ensure accurate, timely financial reporting and compliance with company policies and procedures.


Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, review, and reconcile daily financial transactions, including general ledger accounts and bank statements
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions accurately and on time
  • Post journal entries and maintain supporting documentation
  • Assist with month-end close processes and preparation of financial reports
  • Perform account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
  • Support cash handling processes, including reviewing deposits and assisting with audits
  • Maintain organized financial records in accordance with company standards and applicable regulations
  • Assist with budget preparation and tracking as directed
  • Provide administrative and clerical support to the accounting function
  • Respond to internal inquiries regarding financial information in a timely manner
  • Provide support for night audits monitoring of invoices, replying to vendor inquiries and reconciling account statements.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and research discrepancies.
  • Process high volume weekly check runs for hotel and distribute checks by mail or delivery service.
  • Verify credit cards have been properly authorized for upcoming groups/functions, group bills verification and respond to all chargebacks.
  • Assist with compiling month end accruals
  • Maintain monthly A/P invoice list, verify all monthly invoices are entered.

Additional Duties
  • Assist with special projects and reporting as assigned
  • Support compliance with internal controls and accounting procedures
  • Maintain effective working relationships with team members across departments
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year of accounting, bookkeeping, or related experience (hospitality experience strongly preferred)
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles (e.g., debits/credits, reconciliations)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle confidential financial information responsibly
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations accurately
  • Willingness to learn new processes, best practices and personal development.
  • Can perform in a busy environment moving from task to task with little notice.
  • Team player, professional and lead with integrity.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English, with excellent grammar and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Engaged, authentic, and prepared to positively impact performance for a "best in class" hotel!
Preferred
  • Experience with hotel accounting and financial systems (e.g., M3, ProfitSword, or similar)
  • Experience working with hotel property management and/or POS systems (e.g., PeP, OnQ, Marsha, or similar platforms)
  • Experience with Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Wyndham or Hyatt processes and standards.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Primarily office-based work environment
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and work on a computer
  • Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds (files, office supplies)
  • Limited bending, reaching, and walking between departments
