About the Position:
Sankofa CDC is seeking a full-time STEM Education Programs Manager to lead, coordinate, and strengthen the organization's education programs across all sites and age groups. The Education Programs Manager is responsible for program design, implementation, partnerships, and day-to-day execution of Sankofa's education initiatives, including elementary, middle, and high school programming.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Program Leadership & Implementation
  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of Sankofa CDC's STEM and environmental education programs with place-based learning experiences.
  • Oversee K-12 field trips, workshops, and hands-on learning activities focused on environmental science, sustainability, food systems, and community health.
  • Ensure programs are age-appropriate, engaging, and aligned with Sankofa CDC's mission and community needs.
Curriculum & Educational Materials:
  • Develop, adapt, and maintain curriculum materials aligned with Louisiana State Standards and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
  • Create lesson plans, activities, and supplemental educational resources for use across Sankofa programs.
  • Ensure consistency and quality across education offerings.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for schools, teachers, and education partners. Coordinate with community partners, consultants, and environmental science collaborators.
  • Support program evaluation, data collection efforts, and reporting.
  • Maintain organized records and program documentation.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in education, environmental science, public health, or a related field (required).
  • Experience developing and implementing education or youth programs, preferably in nonprofit or community-based settings.
  • Strong background in STEM education, environmental education, or place-based learning.
  • Experience working with K-12 students and educators.
  • Knowledge of Louisiana State Standards and/or NGSS preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple programs, timelines, and partnerships.
  • Comfort working in outdoor, community-based, and hands-on learning environments.
