Job description

Literary & Film/TV Rights Agent
Company Description
Farhan Faiz Publishing is an independent publishing entity focused on developing, publishing, and representing original literary works with strong commercial and creative potential.
The company works with authors, creatives, publishers, agents, producers, and other industry professionals to develop literary properties and bring them to appropriate audiences and markets.
Alongside publishing, Farhan Faiz Publishing is actively developing opportunities for selected literary properties across film, television, streaming, international publishing, translation, licensing, and other media.
The company is built around professional representation, transparent communication, creative collaboration, and long-term industry relationships. Operations are primarily remote, with projects, submissions, rights, communications, and business development managed through digital platforms.
Role Description
Farhan Faiz Publishing is seeking an experienced Literary & Film/TV Rights Agent to represent selected literary properties and develop legitimate publishing and entertainment opportunities in international markets.
The role will initially focus on EMPIRE OF BLOOD, a literary property being developed for both publishing and potential screen adaptation.
The successful candidate will identify appropriate publishers, literary agencies, producers, production companies, studios, distributors, and other relevant rights buyers; develop targeted submissions and pitch materials; make professional introductions; present the property to suitable industry contacts; and follow opportunities through the appropriate stages of discussion.
The role may involve opportunities relating to:
โ€ข International publishing
โ€ข Foreign and translation rights
โ€ข Film and television adaptation
โ€ข Streaming and screen rights
โ€ข Licensing and subsidiary rights
โ€ข Option and development opportunities
โ€ข Co-production and other media opportunities
The agent will also support rights discussions and commercial negotiations where appropriate, coordinate with legal or business professionals when necessary, maintain accurate records of submissions and rights activity, and provide clear updates on active opportunities and discussions.
This is a representation and business-development role. The expectation is not simply to distribute submissions, but to identify the right opportunities, approach relevant decision-makers, build professional relationships, and develop each opportunity carefully and strategically.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for an experienced professional with genuine industry knowledge, established relationships, and a strong understanding of literary and screen rights.
The ideal candidate should have:
โ€ข Professional experience as a literary agent, rights agent, publishing professional, entertainment professional, producer, literary manager, or in a closely related field.
โ€ข Established relationships with publishers, literary agencies, producers, production companies, studios, distributors, streaming platforms, or other relevant industry decision-makers.
โ€ข A demonstrable track record of developing or securing publishing, licensing, adaptation, option, foreign-rights, or other intellectual-property opportunities.
โ€ข Strong knowledge of copyright, intellectual property, subsidiary rights, licensing, options, and rights management.
โ€ข The ability to evaluate a literary property commercially and identify suitable markets, buyers, and strategic opportunities.

โ€ข
Strong pitching, communication, relationship-management, and negotiation skills.
โ€ข Familiarity with international publishing, film, television, and streaming markets.
โ€ข The ability to work independently, manage multiple submissions and follow-ups, and maintain clear and professional records.
โ€ข A professional network and previous industry work that can be reasonably verified through credits, clients, references, or completed deals.
A degree in Publishing, Law, Business, Communications, Film, Media, or a related field is preferred but not required where substantial relevant industry experience can be demonstrated.
Engagement
This is a remote, independent contract position.
The engagement structure and commercial terms will be discussed with shortlisted candidates based on their experience, professional network, scope of representation, and the opportunities being pursued.
Where appropriate, compensation may include a success-based commission tied to publishing, licensing, adaptation, option, or other rights opportunities successfully developed or secured.

Professional Expectations
The selected candidate will be expected to represent the publishing entity and its literary properties professionally, maintain clear communication, protect confidential information, and handle industry relationships with integrity.
All submissions, introductions, negotiations, and rights-related activities should be conducted with the knowledge and authorization of Farhan Faiz Publishing.
Candidates should be prepared to provide relevant professional credentials, previous work, industry credits, references, or other verifiable evidence of experience.
Important
This is not a social-media promotion, paid-shoutout, marketing, audience-growth, or publicity role.
The focus is on professional representation, rights development, industry introductions, and legitimate publishing and entertainment opportunities for selected literary properties.
We are particularly interested in professionals with genuine industry relationships and a verifiable track record in publishing, literary representation, film/television, entertainment, or intellectual-property rights.
If you have the experience, industry relationships, and professional track record to represent literary properties at an international level, we welcome your application.
