Job description

SNA International seeks a bright, collaborative Forensic Scientist 2 - Quality Control and Validation Analyst with a strong work ethic to join our team. SNA International's team works together in pursuit of the same cause: build a safe and just world by empowering organizations in the use of forensics, biometrics and identity intelligence.
The Forensic Scientist 2 - Quality Control and Validation Analyst will utilize the quality control module within the Laboratory Information Systems Application (LISA). Generate, analyze, and interpret technical data, and produce technical reports using PCR based methods (mtDNA sequencing and STR analysis) and possibly next generation sequencing (NGS) for laboratory quality control and validation functions. Perform quality control testing of critical reagents and laboratory instrumentation.
Critical Work Responsibilities:
  • Perform duties at the direction of the Quality Manager or Validation-QC Manager, Quality Management Section.
  • Establish a quality control module within the Laboratory Information Systems Application (LISA).
  • Generate, analyze, and interpret technical data, and produce technical reports using PCR based methods (mtDNA sequencing and STR analysis) for laboratory quality control and validation functions.
  • Perform quality control testing of critical reagents and laboratory instrumentation.
  • Give lectures and participate in courses, symposia, workshops, and conferences on matters relating to DNA typing, forensic science and validation projects.
  • Provide training in laboratory techniques and procedures to technical staff, students and guests of the laboratory.
  • Perform general laboratory quality control and housekeeping tasks
Minimum Requirements:
  • Candidates must possess a Master's degree in Forensic Science or one of the natural sciences, or have two years of relevant DNA experience and possess a Bachelor's degree in Forensic Science or one of the natural sciences.
  • Candidates must have a minimum of twelve cumulative semester hours or equivalent that covers the required subject areas in Genetics, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, and Statistics.
  • Candidates with experience in Forensic DNA typing, specifically in auSTR, Y-STR, or mtDNA analysis are encouraged to apply.
  • Candidates must be able to successfully complete a background investigation.
