Job description

Purpose

We are seeking a talented and motivated Industrial Robotics Engineer to join our Robotics & AI Software team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced automation and software engineers to develop and implement innovative algorithms for task and motion planning plus computer vision in robotic systems. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to the design, development, and testing of software solutions aimed at enhancing the efficiency and reliability of robotic software algorithms. This involves symbolic task planning, robot kinematics, collision detection, optimization, and computer vision.

The Role
  • Develop and maintain software development best practices to ensure high-quality code, efficient testing, and timely releases.
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure that our software integrates seamlessly with other software products.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to understand project requirements and contribute to the development of software solutions for robot task and motion planning.
  • Design, implement, and optimize algorithms within our planning framework, leveraging your programming skills and understanding of robotics principles.
  • Assist in the integration and testing of computer vision software to ensure robustness and performance in real-world scenarios.
  • Document your work, including code, algorithms, user manuals, and procedures, to support knowledge sharing and future development efforts.
  • Stay updated on advancements in robot planning algorithms and technologies and contribute fresh ideas and insights to the team.
Basic Qualifications
  • Ability to lawfully access information and technology that is subject to US export controls 
  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Robotics, or related field with 5+ years of professional experience.
  • Proficient in programming languages such as C++ and Python.
  • Strong knowledge of data-structures, algorithms, and design pattern.
  • Fundamental understanding of industrial robotics including manipulator kinematics & dynamics, robot trajectory generation, and communications protocols.
  • Expertise with search algorithms, optimization methods, and constraint satisfaction.
  • Experience with open-source robotic planning and manipulation software packages such as MoveIt and ROS.
  • Knowledge of unit-testing, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including product managers & owners, engineers, and internal customers
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Robotics, or related field with 3+ years of professional experience.
  • Understanding of computer vision libraries such as OpenCV and PCL.
  • Experience using programming languages such as C#, TypeScript.
  • Explored using Generative AI in robotics.
  • Strong publication record and/or open-source contributions in the field of robotics.

Compensation

At Divergent, our pay range is based on the level of the job. For this role, we will consider candidates at levels E05 - E06 as evaluated through our interview process. 

  • E05 / Senior: $141,380 -$194.390

  • E06 / Staff: $163,270 - $224,500
