Job Title: Manufacturing Process Engineer, Cable Harness

Job Description:

The Manufacturing Engineer develops, implements, and analyzes manufacturing engineering plans and projects and communicates them to internal and external customers. Defines, develops, and transfers manufacturing and engineering tools, strategies, and systems. Develops manufacturing strategies for specific products and processes. Actively participates with engineering project teams to coordinate the release of new products. Estimates and tracks manufacturing costs, determines time standards, and makes recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines. Maintains records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations. 

Essential Functions:

  • Reviewing design requirements, drawings, and parts lists for manufacturability
  • Create processes to meet design and workmanship requirements
  • Evaluate tooling needs and availability
  • Assists Cable manufacturing's First Time Build team in building initial unit builds and prototype cable assemblies; updated processes as needed
  • Reviews of problem reports; make improvements and corrections to process as warranted
  • Provide input on Engineering Changes Requests; implement changes into processes
  • Determine root cause of failures and drive corrective actions
  • Collects and analyzes quality related data and offers corrective action(s) to help eliminate future defects from occurring
  • Participates in process improvement activities
  • Writes and updates workmanship standards
  • Provide input on engineering specifications
  • Support OT (nights, weekends, extended hours) as needed to meet schedule requirements
  • Ensure company financial goals are met through timely completion of processes, projects, and other initiatives
  • Works on-site in support of manufacturing team
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by management

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, there is a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.

 Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience in cable/harness process engineering.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of cable manufacturing techniques and IPC/WHMA-A-620, class 3 workmanship requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to comprehend schematics, wire lists, wire diagrams, and blueprints.
  • Advanced technical and operational knowledge and experience of manufacturing highly technical devices. 
  • Strong technical SAP ME, SAP ECC and Teamcenter experience.
