Job description

About the role

Picture your day in a leading manufacturing environment in Metro Detroit: you step onto the floor, review a new retrofit for an assembly cell, and open AutoCAD to draft the electrical schematics that will bring it to life. By mid-morning, you’re collaborating with peers to select the right ancillary robotic welding components—weld guns, torches, cabling, dress out, tool changers, tip dressers, and torch cleaners—so the system runs smoothly from day one. In the afternoon, you’re at the machine, programming and supporting PLC and HMI applications directly on equipment across the facility, validating operation, and refining performance.

This direct-hire, full-time, salaried position reports to the Engineering Manager and sits at the heart of our production innovation.

What you’ll do
  • Design complete electrical control systems for new and retrofit welding and assembly equipment, producing detailed electrical schematics using AutoCAD.
  • Partner with engineers to specify robotic welding peripherals including weld guns, torches, cabling, dress out, tool changers, tip dressers, and torch cleaners.
  • Develop, support, and troubleshoot PLC and HMI programs on equipment located across the plant floor.
What you bring
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or 5+ years of relevant experience/training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to work with Allen Bradley Microview Software and Faunc Programming.
  • Motoman Robotic Programming experience.
Core strengths
  • PLC Troubleshooting Skills and general Troubleshooting Skills.
  • Industrial Robot Programming capability.
  • Design for Manufacturability (DFM) mindset.
  • Hands-on PLC Programming Experience.
Machines & technologies you’ll use
  • Variable Frequency Drives (VFD)
  • Servo Motors

Join a prominent Metro Detroit manufacturer where your controls expertise directly impacts production reliability and throughput—from concept schematics to shop-floor commissioning.
