Job description

A leading aerospace and defense manufacturer supporting mission-critical production programs in a highly regulated environment. Known for its strong emphasis on quality, safety, and compliance, the organization delivers high-reliability products used in demanding operational applications. This role supports production and inspection operations where IPC workmanship standards, precision, and attention to detail are essential to program success.

Work Schedule: Shift: 2nd Shift, Hours: Monday–Thursday | 3:30 PM – 2:00 AM, Overtime: Available on weekends, as required

Position Overview

  • We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Cable Inspector to support cable manufacturing and inspection operations in a regulated aerospace and defense production environment.
  • This contract role is critical to ensuring that cable assemblies meet strict quality, workmanship, and customer specifications.
  • The successful candidate will perform inspections in accordance with established procedures and industry standards, identify non-conformances, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect cable assemblies using predetermined methods, operations, and inspection specifications.
  • Perform soldered and crimp inspections in accordance with IPC-A-620 workmanship standards.
  • Utilize measuring and inspection tools such as dial indicators, preset micrometers, and scales.
  • Accept, reject, or route defective or non-conforming units for rework or repair.
  • Interpret and work from blueprints, engineering drawings, customer specifications, and inspection instructions.
  • Monitor and verify product quality using statistical process control or other quality control methods.
  • Communicate effectively with assemblers, test technicians, engineers, and management to resolve quality issues.
  • Perform assembly tasks related to assigned inspection areas, as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and documentation requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong background in cable manufacturing and inspection.
  • Hands-on experience with soldered and crimp inspections using IPC-A-620 standards (required).
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to interpret drawings, diagrams, parts lists, IPC manuals, revision-controlled documents, and work instructions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based manufacturing environment and interface professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency using personal computers and standard business applications.
  • No degree required.
  • Must be able to read and write English.
  • Must successfully pass a medical screening exam as outlined in the supplier guide.
