Position Summary: As the Principal Coaxial Cable Design Engineer on our team, you will be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) responsible for advancing our coaxial cable technology roadmap from initial research, design and development stage through full production sustainability, process and equipment improvements.
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Minimum 7 years of experience working directly on coaxial cable design and manufacturing engineering
  • Design & develop cable products from concept through production release including:
    • Cable construction
    • Shielding design
    • Materials selection
    • Cable / Connector attachment designs
    • Electrical, mechanical,and environmental performance optimization
  • Bachelor's Degree (BSME or BSEE)
  • Excellent organization, communication and presentation skills to act as direct technical liaison with internal and external functions, specifically applications engineering, program management, and sales.
  • Serve as SME and Design Project Manager for internal and customer facing discussions / presentations
  • In depth understanding of coaxial cable Mil-Specs, Industry standards, and customer requirements
  • Working knowledge of cable manufacturing processing equipment and techniques
  • Ability to define, execute, and analyze test & measurement protocols to fully characterize coax cable
  • Analytical thinker with demonstrated technical and CAD design abilities that works well with a team.
  • Drafting and/or CAD design
  • Design techniques to meet cost targets as well as manufacturability
  • Workflow processes and sequences in ERP systems

  • Performs product design/development of new products to meet customer-funded programs and new product development projects in accordance with Hermetics engineering standards, systems, procedures, and policies.
  • Specifies designs and documents all materials, components, performance specifications, etc.
  • Creates detailed drawings, procedures and BOM's as needed to manufacture designs.
  • Documents and records all product data/design information using CAD and product data management/ERP system.
  • Performs research to determine product design/development feasibility.
  • Initiates, reviews, and processes ECO's for existing product designs/parts.
  • Follow your designs through production and solicit feedback from process engineering - support the designs beyond engineering release.
  • Experiment with new areas of Solidworks that may ultimately help the department become more efficient and/or knowledgeable
  • Identifies and/or specifies the sequence of production steps and special equipment/tooling requirements, test requirements, test plans/procedures and special test equipment, sources for new materials, processes, and/or equipment.
  • Reviews and provides technical content of proposal/quote response (i.e. specification reviews, design concept drawings, performance limits, etc.) to applications and sales teams, pre-award.

Pay Transparency:
Winchester Interconnect Corporation is committed to pay transparency. The pay range for this position is 160,000 - 170,000 USD per year, plus incentive compensation.
