SUMMARY
The Department of African and African American Studies at SUNY Brockport is seeking applicants for anticipated part-time adjunct faculty openings.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Essential Functions:
Teaching (100%)
- Teaches assigned courses in the Department of African and African American Studies
- Engages in experiential and hands-on education when appropriate
- Produces effective course materials
- Achieves student learning outcomes
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree in history, africana studies, or a closely related field from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university, or equivalent professional experience

Work Schedule: Variable
Salary and Benefits:
$5,500 stipend per 3 credit course or 3 credit course equivalent. May be benefits eligible. Find out more about benefits at

SUNY Brockport is committed to providing affordable, comprehensive health plan options for faculty, and staff. There is a 28 calendar day waiting period for medical coverage to become effective.
- Part-time professional employees must work at least half-time and be appointed for at least three months, to be eligible.
- Part-time academic employees, such as Adjunct Lecturers, must teach six (6) or more credits (or equivalent) to be eligible for health insurance. These employees will receive 13 pay periods of coverage for each eligible semester. Part-time academics, whose professional obligation is primarily teaching classes, may establish eligibility for health insurance for each individual semester by counting credits (or equivalent) worked at multiple state-operated campuses

- NYS Employees' Retirement System (ERS) and NYS Teachers' Retirement System (TRS) - Defined benefit plans; benefits are based on best Final Average Salary and years of service.
