What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Zoning Attorney, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Zoning Attorney, you need a Juris Doctor (JD) degree, state bar admission, and expertise in land use, real estate, and municipal law. Familiarity with local zoning ordinances, permitting processes, and legal research tools like Westlaw or LexisNexis is crucial. Strong negotiation, analytical thinking, and communication skills help in advocating for clients and navigating complex regulatory environments. These competencies are vital for ensuring clients' projects comply with laws and for achieving favorable outcomes in zoning matters.

What are some common challenges Zoning Attorneys face when working with local government agencies?

Zoning Attorneys often encounter challenges such as navigating complex and frequently changing zoning codes, addressing community concerns during public hearings, and coordinating with multiple municipal departments. They must be adept at building relationships with local officials and understanding the unique priorities of each jurisdiction. Successfully advocating for clients requires not only legal expertise but also strong negotiation and communication skills to resolve disputes and facilitate approvals.

What are zoning attorneys?

Zoning attorneys are legal professionals who specialize in land use, zoning laws, and real estate regulations. They help clients navigate complex zoning codes, obtain permits, and represent them in disputes with local government agencies or zoning boards. Zoning attorneys often work with property developers, homeowners, businesses, and municipalities to ensure compliance with local ordinances and to advocate for zoning changes or variances. Their expertise is essential in cases involving property development, rezoning, and land use planning.

Job description

Real Estate Attorney Wanted — Join a Growing Attorney-Backed Real Estate Platform

Are you an experienced real estate attorney looking for a bigger opportunity?

Do you enjoy helping clients feel protected, informed, and confident during one of the biggest financial decisions of their lives?

Are you interested in being part of a growing nationwide real estate platform built around legal oversight, stronger negotiations, contract confidence, and better client protection?

Attorney Backed Agents® is expanding, and we’re looking for an experienced real estate attorney who wants to help support a modern, client-focused real estate model.

Attorney Backed Agents® are real estate professionals partnered with licensed attorneys to bring clients an elevated level of protection, education, negotiation strength, and trust throughout the buying and selling process.

This opportunity is ideal for an attorney who understands real estate, contracts, business law, title issues, and client risk — and wants to be part of a company that is changing how buyers, sellers, and agents experience real estate.

What You’ll Be Doing

As part of the Attorney Backed Agents® platform, you may:

● Provide legal insight and support related to real estate transactions

● Review real estate contracts, documents, addenda, and compliance-related matters

● Help identify legal risks that may affect buyers, sellers, agents, or transactions

● Support agents and clients with real estate-related legal questions within the appropriate legal scope

● Assist with matters involving title, land use, business law, and contract issues

● Help strengthen the client experience through legal oversight and education

● Communicate professionally with clients, agents, vendors, and internal team members

● Support a smoother and more protected transaction process

● Help clients feel more confident when navigating legally binding real estate documents

● Work with a growing nationwide network of real estate professionals

● Contribute to attorney-backed systems, processes, training, and client-facing support

● Represent the brand with professionalism, integrity, and a high standard of care

Areas of Experience That We'd Like

We’re especially interested in attorneys with experience in:

● Real estate law

● Purchase contracts and transaction documents

● Title insurance matters

● Land use and zoning

● Contract review and negotiation

● Risk management

● Client advising

● Dispute prevention and resolution

● Residential and/or commercial real estate transactions

Who We’re Looking For

Our ideal candidate is:

● A licensed attorney in good standing

● Experienced in real estate law, business law, or related legal practice areas

● Ideally has 3+ years of experience in real estate transaction-related matters

● Professional, responsive, and client-focused

● Strong in written and verbal communication

● Comfortable working with real estate agents and clients

● Able to explain complex legal issues in a clear and practical way

● Detail-oriented and confident reviewing legal documents

● Interested in being part of a growing national real estate brand

● Motivated by helping clients feel protected, educated, and confident

● Able to work independently while following company systems and standards

Why This Opportunity Is Different

This is not just another attorney role.

Attorney Backed Agents® is building a more protective real estate experience by pairing real estate professionals with attorney-backed support, smarter systems, technology, marketing, AI, education, and client-focused processes.

For clients, this means greater peace of mind and confidence during the transaction.

For agents, it creates a stronger value proposition and a more trusted way to serve buyers and sellers.

For attorneys, it creates an opportunity to be part of a growing platform that is bringing legal insight closer to the real estate process.

Compensation

Compensation range:

● $50,000 - $250,000 per year

Actual compensation may vary depending on experience, role structure, market, workload, production, and responsibilities.
