Zip Line Rides Operator
Summary:
The Zip Line Rides Operator assists with the daily operation of the zip line in a safe and efficient manner while promoting a positive atmosphere with riders. Duties include daily on-going inspection of all zip line operating equipment, giving safety presentations to zip riders at the beginning of each ride, ensuring that passengers are in their seats properly, and that each and every restraint is locked before the cart is dispatched. Attention to detail and adherence to all safety guidelines and policies is crucial to this role.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Operate rides and attractions according to safety protocols.
  • Monitor and inspect rides and attractions for safety.
  • Load and unload passengers in a safe and timely manner.
  • Provide customer service to guests, including answering questions and providing assistance.
  • Collect tickets or payment for rides.
  • Enforce all safety regulations and stay current with safety rules and procedures.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the work area.
  • Relieving other team members for breaks.
  • Review and adhere to required operating and safety manuals, completed required training.
  • Operators must give undivided attention to the operation of the ride at all times. Under no circumstances may the operator leave their post while ride is in operation.
  • Employees in this role may provide coverage to other operating rides, as needed.

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma.
  • Previous customer service experience.
  • General knowledge of safety procedures.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee primarily works outdoors on Zoo grounds. The work environment is fast-paced and may involve exposure to warmer or colder temperatures. Employees should be prepared to work in a busy, moderately loud, and dynamic setting.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The Ride Operator is responsible for operating the controls at the control console. The Ride Operator must sit directly in front of the control console. Operator must ensure they are able to reach the switches and are able to see all of the attendants, passengers, and queue gates. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and/or stand for long periods of time. The employee is constantly required to use hands and fingers to feel, handle or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
