โ€‹ZINK is looking for an individual join a team carrying out research and development to advance the performance of our novel print medium, and of the printer hardware that uses it. The printing devices are manufactured by partner companies, but laboratory experiments, measurements and debugging are needed to optimize printing algorithms and image quality. The job will involve responsibility for development and support of specific printer products and for general improvements to the print medium. Visits to partner companies may require up to 4 weeks per year of travel.

  • Developing and refining software tools in the general area of image analysis, with specific applications in color calibration, sharpness, defect analysis etc.
  • Planning and performing research in image and color science, including physics, mechanics, electronics, optics and/or physical chemistry to extend and improve the capabilities of Zinkโ€™s digital printing medium.
  • Learning, maintaining and developing a significant code base of analytical software (primarily in Matlab, also in Excel VBA, and C++).
  • Analyzing and interpreting data to support modeling of the printing process.
  • Working with partner companies to support the development of commercial printers using ZINK media (occasional travel may be required).
  • Assisting as needed with hardware demonstrations and producing high quality images for use in market research or promotions.
  • Collaborating with a diverse group of scientists, engineers and technicians to test and improve printing methods.
  • Periodic documentation and presentation of results will be expected.
  • Knowledge of the principles of image processing, physics, electrical and mechanical engineering and numerical methods will be required to carry out fruitful collaboration.
  • Experience in scientific programming. Experience in Matlab a plus.
  • Background in digital printing will be helpful but is not a requirement.
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree with an emphasis in image processing, with strong skills in EE/CS and/or Physics, with 2+ years of industry or relevant project experience.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work' in the United States on a full-time basis
