Job description

MINIMUM AGE:      Must be 18 years of age

HOURS:                 Must be flexible; nights and weekends necessary

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: 

          An employee in this position operates a Zamboni machine to resurface the ice at the Dearborn Ice Skating Center.  The employee also performs minor repairs and maintenance on the Zamboni and facility.  The employee cleans the locker rooms and other areas in the arena.  The employee also acts as a watchperson at the arena and prepares weekly equipment maintenance and supply reports.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Some mechanical knowledge.
  • Ability and willingness to perform minor repair and maintenance work.
  • Ability and willingness to perform janitorial duties.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationship with other employees and the public.
  • Previous experience driving a Zamboni is preferred, but not necessary.
  • Ability and willingness to perform routine tasks associated with the operation and maintenance of a municipal ice area.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.

NECESSARY SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess a valid Michigan Driver license

POST-EMPLOYMENT OFFER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Satisfactory completion of a criminal background (sex offender registry if applicable) and a drug screen that tests for illegal drugs as defined by the Federal Drug Free Workplace Act but not those legalized under Michigan law prior to start date.
