ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for enthusiastic, energetic coaches to join our Youth Programs team at Momentum Indoor Climbing Silver Street.
As a Youth Program Coach, you'll introduce the next generation of climbers to the sport - teaching foundational movement, building confidence on the wall, and having fun while doing it.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibility Category Title
  • Assist head coaches during youth climbing classes, camps, and structured programming
  • Create a safe, positive, encouraging environment for young climbers
  • Support skill development for a range of ages and experience levels.
  • Collaborate with our program team to deliver high-quality, consistent experiences
  • Ability to put immediate needs of participants first at all times
  • Ability to command respect, enforce safe climbing practices, recognize unsafe conditions, and discuss any concerns with fellow coaches and participants in a professional manner
  • Provide a positive customer service experience for parents, giving feedback on climbers before and after practice
  • Assist Front Desk staff with handing out & putting away youth program equipment
  • Enforce Momentum policies in a friendly, patient, and respectful manner

REQUIREMENTS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Experience, Skills, and Certifications
  • A genuine love of climbing and enthusiasm for sharing it with others
  • Solid climbing experience and movement knowledge
  • A fun, patient, adaptable coaching style
  • Experience working with kids in a coaching, teaching or mentoring capacity is a bonus.

Hours and Availability
  • Part-time. Minimum 2 shifts per week, maximum 16 hours per week
  • Available evenings beginning at 3:45pm

Environmental and Physical Demands
  • Stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for the duration of their shift
  • Demonstrate climbing movements and techniques on the wall
  • Spot and physically assist young climbers as needed, including supporting their body weight
  • Be comfortable working at heights, moving up and down a climbing wall
  • Continuously stand and walk on unstable and uneven surfaces for long periods of time
  • Able to repeatedly lift, move, and carry up to 50 lbs of weight on a regular basis
  • Able to balance, kneel, pull, push, and grasp objects as needed
  • Have the visual acuity to assess details such as harness buckles, knots, and belay technique
  • Operate in an environment with elevated noise levels typical of an active gym.
