Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the YMCA of the Rockies, Snow Mountain Ranch, a mission-driven family and group conference and retreat center with an on-site residential camp, serving more than 50,000 guests annually. The Seasonal Maintenance Lead is primarily responsible for repairing minor to moderate issues on grounds, public areas, and private accommodations. This role assists year-round maintenance staff and follows their guidance to ensure the facility’s upkeep and safety.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide leadership and basic decision-making for other seasonal staff.
  • Perform physical tasks including working on feet and knees for an eight-hour shift, both indoors and outdoors, sometimes in extreme weather conditions.
  • Climb ladders, scaffolding, and perform work on roofs safely.
  • Shovel snow from walks, porches, stairs, and roofs primarily during October through April.
  • Assist year-round employees by following their instructions on various maintenance projects.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times.
  • Learn to repair minor facility issues such as changing light bulbs, installing screens, and unclogging toilets (including hand-auguring up to 5 times in an 8-hour shift).
  • Safely operate all hand and power tools common to the construction and maintenance industry.
  • Pick up trash on assigned routes and dispose of properly; bags may weigh up to 50 lbs, but most will be under 25 lbs.
  • Lift trash bags into and out of flatbed pickup trucks or trash compactors.
  • Work Night Maintenance shifts as needed.
  • Assist wherever needed with basic to moderate carpentry, painting, plumbing, landscaping, and cleaning tasks.
  • Perform basic electrical tasks, including wiring, lighting installation, and fixture repairs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess a valid, USA state-issued driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, and comply with YMCA driving policies to be approved to operate YMCA vehicles.
  • Demonstrate fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.

  • Work takes place both indoors and outdoors, frequently exposed to varying weather conditions including cold, heat, snow, rain, and wind.
  • Requires physical stamina and endurance to stand, walk, kneel, bend, climb ladders, and work at heights for extended periods.
  • Regularly lifts, carries, and moves materials weighing up to 50 pounds, including trash bags and tools.
  • Frequent use of hand and power tools, requiring safe operation and handling.
  • Must be able to shovel snow and perform physically demanding tasks during winter months.
  • Ability to work night shifts and flexible hours when needed.
  • Requires good vision, hearing, and communication skills for safety and guest interaction.
  • Must follow safety protocols to minimize risk when working with tools, equipment, and around potentially hazardous conditions.
