Job description


POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Youth Director, the Site Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, planning, and leading after school programming while supervising the program staff.

They are responsible for managing the functions of the program in accordance with the stated mission, goals, and policies established by the administrative staff, governing committees, and Board of Directors of the YMCA.

Job Schedule: Monday through Friday. Start times range from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. until 6 p.m. After school sites may include:

Laurel Park, Salem, Adams, and Cary Elementary

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Maintains an open line of communication with the program director, staff, campers and parents to develop strong, positive relationships.

Provides leadership and guidance to all staff members on a daily basis. Assists supervisor in onboarding, training and evaluating program staff.

Responsible for communication to parentsand caregivers including monthly newsletter and weekly updates.

Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.

Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.

Responsible for creating daily schedules and placing staff in activities and huddles where they are able to grow and be successful.

Assists Youth Director in the preparation for staff meetings and training of staff at all staff meetings.

Collaborates with the Youth Director in planning, coaching, facilitating activities & assemblies, and communicating with staff in assigned program area.

Assists Youth Director in the creation and distribution of daily, weekly and monthly parent communication.

Opens and closes program daily.

Attends weekly and monthly meetings with Youth Director to identify areas for growth and improvement in assigned program.

Ensures the cleanliness of the building and equipment areas.

Ensures that the program is safe and follows all safety procedures and standards.

Supports Counselors with major camper discipline issues.

Modelsrelationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.

Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or GED required with 2 years of experience working with youth preferred.

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Previous experience in program development, personal development and supervision of staff.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.

Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Strong programming, communication, public speaking, and problem solving skills.

Ability to assist in the management of the facility, equipment, and staff.

Must obtain certifications through the YMCA in Basic Life Support/First Aid and Emergency Oxygen upon hire.

Multi-lingual desired but not required.
