As our Yard Manager, you’ll play a key role in supervising our yard operations, which involve sorting materials, loading, operating equipment, and managing truck flow. Your main goal will be to ensure a safe, efficient, and productive environment for everyone on site. This isn’t just a desk job; we’re searching for someone who enjoys collaboration and can dive right in with the team to resolve challenges and keep everything running smoothly.


**Your Exciting Responsibilities Will Include:**

  • Leading daily yard operations, supervising all aspects of loading/unloading, sorting, and equipment use.
  • Reducing downtime and ensuring a swift turnaround for incoming and outgoing trucks.
  • Supporting and guiding yard employees, including drivers, operators, sorters, and laborers.
  • Upholding safety standards by ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company protocols.
  • Performing regular equipment inspections and coordinating maintenance to keep everything in tip-top shape.
  • Collaborating closely with the General Manager to address performance, challenges, and growth opportunities.
  • Operating equipment as needed, such as forklifts, skid steers, front-end loaders, and yard trucks.
  • Helping to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient site for everyone!


**Supervisory Responsibilities:**

This role requires strong leadership and coaching skills, as you'll directly supervise a passionate team of Leads, Drivers, Equipment Operators, Maintenance Mechanics, Sorters, and Operational Support—empowering them to perform at their best!

Requirements:

Experience:

  • 5+ years in a yard, recycling, scrap, construction, or logistics environment.
  • 2+ years in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Experience operating heavy equipment (forklift, skid steer, loader) strongly preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong team leadership and communication skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude and understanding of industrial equipment.
  • Ability to problem-solve and make quick decisions in a busy environment.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Technical or trade school is a plus, but not required.

Typical Physical Demands:

  • Ability to operate office equipment used as needed.
  • Ability to organize various office systems/stations through adjusting, connecting, lifting, pulling, pushing, bending, or folding for the purpose of proper records development, office functions, and/or management.
  • Ability to use a computer and related devices, such as a keyboard, mouse, or other related equipment, throughout the workday while seated at a desk or workstation.
  • Ability to climb ladders, bend, stoop, or stand for long periods of time. In addition, individuals must be able to reach above their shoulders and lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

  • Normal setting for this job is: A combination of office setting (20%) and operations floor (80%) of time.
