**THE ROLE:

**

The Diesel Technician will be responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, servicing, and repairing pumping and support equipment safely and efficiently in a Xylem Service Center, Customer job site or via phone. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

• Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance and servicing as directed on Godwin fleet equipment between each rental.

• Troubleshoot diesel engine, electrical systems and pump problems.

• Rebuild diesel engines and pump ends.

• Assist customer and/or Xylem personnel with setting up pumping systems on customer job sites as needed. Assist in the performance of start-up duties and ensure any problems are resolved.

• Perform an initial inspection of Godwin fleet equipment for possible damages; diagnose damages; report damages to Service Manager.

• Test all repaired equipment for proper operation and quality.

• Perform preventative maintenance on Company vehicles and shop support equipment.

• Perform diagnostic checks using computer technology.

• Participate in monthly on-call rotation schedule to assist customers after hours.

• Perform related duties as assigned.

**Minimum Qualifications:

** Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:

• 1-2 years of diesel experience and/or training or combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

• Valid driver’s license with good driving record

• Ability to obtain DOT Medical card

• Diagnosing basic mechanical problems

• Thorough understanding of the methods, materials, tools and techniques used in equipment repair and maintenance.

• Basic understanding of pump station electrical controls and monitoring devices

• General DC electric and circuit testing skills

• General diesel engine component location and identification

• Safety practices and procedures

• Basic mechanical aptitude

• Ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues--preferred.

• Ability to work independently with little or no supervision; self-motivated and self-directed.

• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, co-workers and managers both verbally and in writing.

The estimated salary range for this position is $30 to $33/hourly. Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location.
