Job description

Project Manager - QA

San Jose, CA (100% onsite)

3+ months

Pay: $45/hr. W2

Overview

Overview
We're looking for a Project Manager for a short-term engagement to assess and standardize QA processes across multiple teams and projects. This person will come in, work closely with QA and technical teams across the organization, map out how things are currently done, identify gaps and inconsistencies, and drive toward one consistent, repeatable QA process. Hands-on QA experience is a strong plus but not required — what matters most is a solid grasp of QA fundamentals and the ability to quickly build credibility with technical teams. Experience with XR (AR/VR/MR) projects is a plus, as some of the teams involved work in this space.

Responsibilities:

  • Engage with multiple cross-functional teams including XR (AR/VR/MR) initiatives to understand current QA practices, tools, and pain points on each project
  • Audit and assess existing QA processes across teams to identify inconsistencies, gaps, and opportunities for standardization
  • Design a standardized QA framework/process that can scale across teams and projects, accounting for the unique testing needs of XR platforms where relevant
  • Facilitate alignment between technical managers, engineers, and QA resources on the new standardized process and expectations
  • Document standardized QA workflows, guidelines, and best practices for long-term adoption
  • Identify risks and blockers early, and proactively communicate status to stakeholders
  • Drive change management, helping teams understand and adopt new processes with minimal disruption

Required skills:

  • Proven experience as a Project Manager, with either hands-on QA experience or a strong working understanding of QA practices (e.g., gained from working closely with QA teams)
  • Solid understanding of QA processes, methodologies, and best practices (e.g., test planning, test case management, defect tracking, regression testing, release/QA sign-off processes)
  • Demonstrated experience standardizing or improving processes across multiple teams or projects
  • Familiarity with XR (AR/VR/MR) development or testing considerations is a plus (e.g., device/hardware compatibility, performance, spatial/UX testing)
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously
  • Strong communication skills; ability to work effectively with both technical team members and technical managers/leadership
  • Ability to quickly ramp up, build trust, and drive results in a short engagement window
  • Comfortable operating independently with minimal onboarding time
