Description and Functions

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is seeking to hire a Marketing Specialist in Cheyenne, Wyoming. This 12-month contract position has an intended start date in September. The Marketing Specialist will work within the Communications and Education division to help plan, execute and monitor our Super Tag raffle, Aquatic Invasive Species prevention, bear safety, Movement Matters, Inspire a Kid and other campaigns. This position will also support the promotion of Game and Fish events. The Marketing Specialist will report to the Multimedia and Marketing Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed in the job level.
  • Develop and execute digital marketing campaigns across multiple channels, including social media, email, search and display advertising.
  • Assist in creating engaging and relevant content tailored to different platforms and audiences.
  • Utilize analytics tools to track campaign performance, interpret data, make informed marketing decisions and report results.
  • Utilize current SEO and Generative Engine Optimization strategies to improve agency web visibility within search and AI systems.
  • Support the Game and Fish Strategic plan and content development strategy.
  • Drive success with Department campaigns and follow brand standards.
  • Work collaboratively with all divisions to develop and deliver campaigns in a timely and effective manner.
  • Have a passion for and dedication to conserving wildlife and serving people.

Qualifications
PREFERENCES:
Preference may be given to those with a bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, digital content strategy, outdoor recreation, wildlife management, or other related field.
Preference may be given to those with experience in marketing, communications, social media, digital advertising or experience creating digital content for marketing campaigns.
**Must have a valid driver's license.
KNOWLEDGE:
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work with all ages and backgrounds.
  • Ability to develop and execute a marketing plan.
  • Ability to develop compelling digital content.
  • Knowledge of hunting and fishing techniques.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, strong organizational and leadership skills, enthusiasm, flexibility and a passion for working with others.
