WWD: Beauty Reporter
WWD's Beauty Inc seeks an experienced reporter in its New York office to join the growing team. The beauty reporter will cover product launches and events, trending news and business stories. The role will involve cultivating beauty industry contacts to break news and develop trend stories, as well as keeping tabs on cultural events and social media for trending beauty coverage. Additional responsibilities will include occasional reporting for WWD's other sections including fashion and the Eye. The ideal candidate should have at least one to two years of writing and reporting experience. Must be a quick writer who is able to generate news and trends stories, and apply best practices for SEO to optimize readership.
WWD values in-person collaboration and team cohesion, employees work onsite 4 days a week and 1 day remotely with a focus on maintaining a vibrant and inclusive culture.
Beauty Reporter responsibilities:
  • Pitch, write and report 3 to 5 trending and/or news stories per day, working directly with WWD's editors, as well as evergreen stories and product roundups.
  • Excellent writing skills and a talent for identifying angles that align with our brand and voice.
  • Stay up-to-the-minute on news, and come up with original story ideas based on them.
  • A proven ability to perform under high-pressure conditions
  • An understanding of the nuts and bolts of good journalism practices (i.e. fact-checking and copy-editing basics, correct sourcing methods, etc.)
  • An understanding of best practices for SEO and content optimization.
  • Assist in building online features such as lists, as well as working with the team to optimize social media content.

  • Ability to identify time sensitive news
  • Proven experience in writing concise, accurate news items
  • Strong research skills, detail oriented
