Job description

Location: NC-Charlotte
Job Title: Telemundo Producer - WSOC TV
Position Overview
CMG is in search of a News Producer to join the Telemundo Charlotte team. The ideal candidate consistently crafts in-depth, fast-paced, memorable newscasts. You must be able to own breaking news inside newscasts. In addition, successful candidates must understand coverage on all platforms. Collaboration with others is a must for this position. Candidates should be open to feedback and have a desire to grow in their role.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Bilingual, with excellent Spanish-writing skills.
  • Research, write and update news stories for Charlotte's only Spanish-language local newscast.
  • Create relevant, important and memorable newscasts.
  • Develop graphics for production by Design Department.
  • Write Opens, Stories, and Teases.
  • Work closely with Managing Editor daily on rundown decisions and live opportunities.
  • Work closely with news team to create compelling news segments, and maintain high production standards
  • Work in the Control Room during broadcast to oversee presentation and changes in format.
  • Understand and effectively use all platforms.
  • Ensure all news segments are produced and aired on time and often under tight deadlines.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Must stay abreast on current affairs, and have a wide-range working knowledge of general interest subjects.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in Journalism or Communications preferred
  • Previous experience in local TV news
